Is PHYSINT an Xbox exclusive?
Xbox is Kojima Productions’ current partner on PHYSINT, but the available announcements do not say the game is Xbox-exclusive. A publishing or development partnership is not, by itself, confirmation of every platform a game will or will not support. Do not treat PlayStation’s departure as proof that a PlayStation version is impossible—or treat Xbox’s involvement as proof of exclusivity. What changed in the partnership?
PHYSINT was announced in January 2024 as a Kojima Productions project in partnership with PlayStation, according to The Washington Post. In September 2026, PlayStation stepped away from the collaboration, and Kojima Productions said development would continue with Xbox. The studio currently describes PHYSINT as an action-espionage game. What is known about PHYSINT’s development?
Kojima told The Washington Post on September 20, 2026 that the project had a written plot and game concept with storyboards. The studio had begun making 3D models and scanning actors, while Kojima was experimenting with different engines and had not selected one. Cast and genre
Kojima Productions named Bill Skarsgård as the lead role in its September 2026 announcement. The studio calls PHYSINT an action-espionage game. In a Koji10 podcast Q&A reported by GamesRadar+ on October 5, 2026, Kojima said: “It’s about spies, but I want plenty of new ideas and a different kind of spy action. It’s quite different.” The cited material does not provide a detailed story synopsis or a full public gameplay presentation, and it does not establish that PHYSINT is part of the Metal Gear franchise. Has PHYSINT got a release date or window?
No release date or release window is confirmed in the cited studio announcements and interviews. There is also no final platform list to use for a console comparison or compatibility decision. Until Kojima Productions or its partners make those details public, claims about a PS5 version, Xbox exclusivity or launch timing should be treated as unconfirmed.
