Before verification, the weekly spending limit is $299.99, and that figure covers both person-to-person payments and payments to authorized merchants. Both numbers are weekly rolling caps, not per-transaction maximums. Venmo also states that limits may be reviewed or changed, and that a payment can be declined for reasons other than a limit.
Those figures apply to paying other people and merchants. Moving money from Venmo to a bank account, sending from a teen or business profile, and sending through Messenger or PayPal each run on separate rules, covered below.

Personal profile limits: verified and unverified
Venmo’s Personal Profile Payment Limits page sets two levels for a personal profile. The difference depends entirely on whether you have completed identity verification.
| Profile status | Weekly payment limit | What the limit covers |
|---|---|---|
| Unverified personal profile | $299.99 per week | Person-to-person payments and payments to authorized merchants |
| Verified personal profile | Up to $60,000 per week | Venmo describes this as the amount possible to send in a week after identity verification |
The page states the verified figure in plain terms: “If you have completed identity verification, it is possible to send up to $60,000 per week on Venmo.” Source: Venmo Personal Profile Payment Limits.

How the rolling weekly limit works
Venmo says most transaction limits on a personal account are rolling weekly limits. A payment does not reset at midnight on a fixed day. Instead, each payment counts against your limit until one week after the time it was authorized.
Venmo’s own example: a payment authorized on a Monday at 11:00 a.m. stops counting toward the limit at 11:01 a.m. the following Monday. In practice, the room you have to send again grows as older payments age out of the seven-day window, so two payments made on different days can free up capacity on different schedules.

Identity verification and when Venmo asks for it
Verification is what unlocks the higher personal figures. Venmo’s Identity Verification help article says it may ask you to verify after you attempt to send $300 or more in a rolling seven-day period, or to transfer $1,000 or more to a bank in a week. Verification is done in the mobile app.

Bank transfers use a different limit
Sending money to another Venmo user and withdrawing funds to your bank are counted separately. Venmo’s Personal Profile Bank Transfer Limits page gives these figures:
| Profile status | Weekly bank transfer limit | Per individual transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Unverified personal profile | $999.99 per rolling week | Not separately capped above $999.99, since the weekly figure is lower than $5,000 |
| Verified personal profile | Up to $19,999.99 per week | No more than $5,000 in one transfer |
A verified user who wants to move $19,999.99 in a week therefore needs at least four separate transfers, since each one is capped at $5,000. Standard ACH transfers typically take one to three business days. Instant transfers carry a separate fee and eligibility conditions, which are set out on the Personal Profile Bank Transfer Limits page.

Teen and business accounts
Teen Accounts
Teen Accounts have a separate weekly person-to-person limit of $2,000. Check Venmo’s Teen Account Limits page for the current terms that apply to a specific teen profile.
Business profiles
Verified business profiles have a $25,000 weekly limit for payments to other Venmo users. That limit is separate from the personal profile figures above. The Business Profiles Payment and Bank Transfer Limits page also covers business bank transfers, which this article does not reproduce.

Payments through Messenger and to PayPal
Payments started in Meta Messenger have their own caps, and so do Venmo-to-PayPal cross-platform payments. Venmo’s help pages list the same four figures for both, which are separate from the ordinary Venmo flow.
| Channel | Per transaction | Per day | Per week | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Messenger payments (Sending Money on Meta Messenger) | $2,500 | $5,000 | $10,000 | $25,000 |
| Venmo-to-PayPal international payments (Sending money between Venmo and PayPal) | $2,500 | $5,000 | $10,000 | $25,000 |
Availability of the cross-platform international payment depends on geography and recipient eligibility, so a listed limit does not mean every transfer is available to every user.
Which limit applies to your situation
- Paying another person or a merchant from a personal profile: the $299.99 weekly limit before verification, or up to $60,000 per week after verification.
- Withdrawing Venmo funds to a bank: the bank transfer limits, not the payment limits.
- Using a Teen Account: the teen person-to-person limit.
- Paying from a verified business profile: the business payment limit for other Venmo users.
- Sending through Messenger or to a PayPal recipient internationally: the channel-specific caps, which apply on top of the account’s own weekly capacity.
Why a payment can fail below the limit
A limit is a ceiling, not a guarantee. Venmo states that it can review and change limits on your account, and that payments may be declined for reasons besides a limit. If a payment is declined and you are well under the figures above, check the account’s verification status and any recent limit-related notices in the app before assuming a limit is the cause.
How current these figures are
Venmo’s help pages list these figures without a publication year. They were checked in 2026, and Venmo notes that limits may change. Confirm the current numbers on the linked Help Center pages before making a large transfer, particularly if you rely on the $60,000 weekly figure for a time-sensitive payment.
