PureStack is an MIT-licensed frontend stack that turns Markdown and MDX content into a static website, with TypeScript-based browser behavior available when a page needs it. Ahmed Yasin announced its first public version on October 2, 2026, describing the project as an integration of content processing, components, styling, themes, browser bundling, search, and editor support rather than a claim that existing tools are inadequate. The project’s README puts the core idea simply: “PureStack turns a content directory into a static website.”
What is PureStack?
PureStack is a set of npm-distributed tools for building content-oriented frontend sites. Its project documentation describes a workflow that starts with a content directory and produces ordinary HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets that can be served by a static host. Content can be written in Markdown, .mdx, or .rmdx, with site settings in siteConfig.json. The project identifies its license as MIT.
The stack brings together a command-line interface and TypeScript API, static-site generation, UI components, themes and style generation, typed CSS and HTML builders, browser scripts, SVG icon lookup, and VS Code support. Its author says the project grew out of assembling these capabilities from separate tools. The stated goal is to integrate them in one system; the announcement does not establish that this approach is better than other frontend stacks.
How does PureStack work?
The documented build flow discovers Markdown and MDX files, creates routes and navigation, renders pages to HTML, generates theme CSS, copies assets, and can create search indexes. Browser-side TypeScript can also be bundled when a site needs it. The README says Regor components can render into pages at build time, so components used to present content do not by themselves mean every visitor must download a client-side application.
#1 Best Overall
Site configuration is kept in siteConfig.json. For development, the README documents npx purestack serve --content ./content; build and publish commands use the same content-directory argument.
Documented commands
| Purpose | Command | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Run a development server | npx purestack serve --content ./content |
Serves the content project for development. |
| Build the site | npx purestack build --content ./content |
Generates the site output. |
| Create a deployment artifact | npx purestack publish --content ./content |
Creates a clean, minified artifact; it does not upload the site to a host. |
Is PureStack static by default?
Yes, in the sense that the documented output is a set of static files and components can be rendered into HTML during the build. A page can therefore display content without requiring a client-side framework solely for rendering that page. The available project descriptions do not establish that every feature or site configuration is purely static, so check the current documentation for the behavior of specific integrations.

- TypeScript implements a superset of syntax for strictly typed development, facilitating deep static analysis and enhanced development environment integration. The compiler translates source into standard script formats, ensuring parity across any runtime.
- TypeScript is ideal for front-end developers, full-stack engineers, and software architects who build large-scale web applications. It serves those looking to improve code excellence, reduce bugs through static checking, and maintain complex projects more.

How do you add interactivity?
Interactivity is an explicit addition, not an automatic property of every generated page. PureStack’s architecture documentation describes PageScript for page-level browser behavior and RegorApp for mounting a Regor application. Those mechanisms let an author add browser-side TypeScript or a mounted app for a feature that needs it, while keeping other content pages statically rendered.
What are Regor and the component tools?
Regor is the component system named in PureStack’s documentation. The project says Regor components can render during the build, while a mounted RegorApp is available for browser interactivity. The repository groups this component layer with packages for UI elements, style generation, themes, browser scripts, and typed HTML and CSS construction.
Ahmed Yasin’s October 2, 2026 announcement reports 67 public components and browser entry points, with examples such as forms, buttons, tabs, modals, charts, virtual lists and tables, navigation, search, and landing-page components. That is an author-reported release figure, not an independently audited inventory.
What does the VS Code extension provide?
The author describes the VS Code extension as offering component and prop completion, Go to Definition, frontmatter completion, Regor template highlighting, markup diagnostics, and formatting inside TypeScript HTML templates. These features are intended to keep editing support close to the project’s component and template conventions.
Can PureStack build a documentation site?
Its documented inputs and outputs fit a content-based site: Markdown and MDX files become routes and HTML pages, and the generated static files can be served by a static host. That makes documentation a plausible use case, but the available project descriptions do not report a separately tested documentation-site deployment or prescribe a hosting provider. Review the current README for the site structure and configuration expected by the version you use.

The README documents the package as available through npm and shows running its commands with npx. A minimal starting point is to create a content directory and a siteConfig.json, then run the development command from the project environment. Consult the PureStack repository for current setup details, command options, and release information, since the project is newly announced and those details may change.

What is established—and what remains unverified?
The available descriptions are first-party: the author’s announcement and the project repository. The author says PureStack’s own site uses the stack’s generator, MDX, Regor, component library, typed styles, themes, and browser TypeScript. That is the author’s account of self-hosting, not independent production testing.
These sources describe features and architecture but do not establish independent performance benchmarks, adoption, security, comparative superiority, compatibility across environments, or long-term maintenance prospects. Teams considering it should inspect current repository activity and documentation, then assess how its content formats, routing, interactivity model, deployment workflow, and ecosystem fit their existing project. Migration cost and operational requirements depend on the site being moved.
