Batman: Arkham is a DC action-adventure video game franchise, not a LEGO game series. Its core story is told across Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight, with Arkham Origins as a prequel. For a first playthrough, follow release order: Asylum, City, Origins, then Knight. The title alone does not identify which LEGO Batman set you mean, so a specific connection between a set and an Arkham game cannot be confirmed without the set number.
What is Batman: Arkham?
Batman: Arkham is a franchise of Batman action-adventure games. Warner Bros. Games describes Arkham Asylum as the game that established the Arkhamverse. Rocksteady Studios developed Asylum, City and Knight, which make up its three-game story arc. Arkham Origins, developed by WB Games Montréal, is a separate prequel set earlier in Batman’s career.

The games are connected by their Batman setting and story, but they are not all one developer’s trilogy: Origins is the chronological prequel, while Rocksteady’s trilogy continues from Asylum through Knight. Warner Bros. Games’ series overview summarizes the three Rocksteady entries and their place in the franchise.
What order should you play the Arkham games in?
For a first playthrough, use release order. It follows the way the games were introduced and preserves the sequence of the Rocksteady story arc, while still letting you play the prequel where it was released.
#1 Best Overall
- Batman: Arkham Collection brings you the definitive versions of Rocksteady's Arkham Trilogy games, including all post-launch content, in one complete collection.
- Experience two of the most critically acclaimed titles of the last generation - Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, with fully remastered and updated visuals.
- Complete your experience with the explosive finale to the Arkham series in Batman: Arkham Knight.
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009)
- Batman: Arkham City (2011)
- Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
- Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
If you would rather follow fictional chronology, play Origins before Asylum and City: DC identifies it as a prequel set several years earlier. That is a valid alternative, but the release order is the clearest route through the series’ original publication and development history.

There is an important difference between the physical Switch edition and a cartridge containing all three games: Asylum is on the cartridge, while City and Knight must be downloaded and installed using an internet connection. After downloading, all three can be played with the cartridge inserted. Warner Bros. Games detailed this in its June 20, 2023 FAQ. Check the current store listing for availability and edition details before buying.

The Arkham games are not LEGO games, and the phrase “the LEGO set” is not specific enough to identify a particular product or its inspiration. The available official information about the Arkham franchise does not establish that an unspecified LEGO set recreates an Arkham game, character, or scene. You need the set’s name or number to verify that connection.
LEGO has also announced a separate video game, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The LEGO Group’s August 19, 2025 announcement describes it as drawing on Batman’s history across films, television, comics and games, with LEGO humor. That announcement concerns a video game, not evidence that a particular building set is based on the Arkham trilogy. Read LEGO’s announcement.
