An MTG God Pack is a rare booster-pack outcome, not a special product you can order. Wizards of the Coast announced that God Packs are planned to return with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, the first Magic set of 2027, with different contents for Booster Packs and Collector Boosters.
What is an MTG God Pack?
Wizards defines a God Pack as a rare booster in which every nonbasic card is rare or mythic rare. The announced 2027 versions also include a God Pack celebration card. The term has an older Magic precedent, but the new packs are not simply the same configuration brought back.

The original Magic example
A 2014 Magic Rules Tips article, updated in 2015, described a special Journey into Nyx booster that could contain all 15 gods from the Theros block. That was a set-specific themed pack; the 2027 announcement instead defines God Packs by rarity and card treatments. Read the historical account.

In an announcement dated October 5, 2026, Wizards said God Packs are planned to begin with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, the first Magic set of 2027. The plan is for them to continue in Magic Multiverse sets, with Universes Beyond sets expected to receive them in 2028. These are future-product plans, not confirmation that God Packs are available now. Wizards’ announcement and its WPN retailer guidance describe the rollout.

What are the odds of opening one?
Wizards states a frequency of 1 in every 1,000 Booster Packs and 1 in every 300 Collector Boosters. These are publisher-stated pack-level frequencies, not independently measured results. They do not establish the odds for a box, the likelihood of finding one in a particular purchase, or the expected value of a pack.
What is inside each announced God Pack?
The configurations differ by product. “Booster Fun” refers to special card treatments; the listed counts are the announced contents for the rare God Pack configuration.

Can you buy a God Pack?
No separate God Pack product is available to order. WPN says God Packs appear randomly among regular Booster Packs and Collector Boosters stocked for eligible sets. Buying a booster does not guarantee a God Pack, and the published frequencies do not provide a way to identify one before opening.

What should you do if you open one at an event?
Stop opening or using the cards and call a judge or tournament organizer. WPN’s current guidance distinguishes competitive and casual events:
- Competitive events supplied by Wizards: the God Pack must be removed from play and replaced. The organizer should provide an unopened Booster Pack from the same set at no charge.
- Events intended to feel competitive: WPN strongly recommends celebrating the find, letting the opener keep the God Pack, and replacing it with an unopened pack from the same set at no charge.
- Casual events: the organizer may decide to leave the God Pack in the draft or sealed pool, although WPN recommends removal and replacement in most cases.
Follow the judge’s or organizer’s direction rather than assuming the unusual pack can remain in your pool. The older 2014 article quoted a rule excerpt from that period; it is historical context, not a substitute for the current WPN event guidance.

What else changes with 2027 boosters?
Wizards also announced broader booster changes beginning with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm. Play Boosters are to be renamed Booster Packs; WPN describes this as a name change, not a new product. The announcement also says traditional-foil Japan Showcase cards are planned for the Booster Pack wildcard slot, foil rare and mythic rare drop rates are planned to increase, and Booster Packs will no longer include foil commons or uncommons or guarantee a foil. Collector Boosters are planned to lose two foil commons and one foil uncommon, with those cards not replaced.
