A Nendoroid is a small, chibi-style character figure—typically around 10 cm tall—with designed connection points for changing its face and, depending on the figure, other parts. To change a face plate, the official instructions for one Nendoroid show removing the front hair piece, swapping the plate, then putting the figure back together. Parts can be shared across some figures, but compatibility depends on the series and model.
What is a Nendoroid?
Good Smile Company describes Nendoroids as palm-sized, chibi-style figures based on characters from anime, games and other media. The figures use interchangeable face plates and body parts to create different expressions and poses. The manufacturer’s overview describes the figures as around 10 cm tall; exact dimensions and included pieces can vary by release. Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid overview also describes a catalog of more than 1,500 figures, a changing catalog count rather than a dated sales figure.

How do Nendoroid face plates work?
A face plate is the removable face section fitted into the figure’s head. The access method is specific to the figure. In the manual for the Hitori Gotoh: Maid Ver. [Basic], the illustrated change begins by removing the front hair part; the manual also shows the back head part separating from the neck-joint plate. Once the face plate is changed, the parts are reassembled as shown in that model’s instructions. Consult that figure’s manual or the manual for your own release rather than assuming every head comes apart in exactly the same way.

- Check the figure’s own instructions to identify the front hair and face plate.
- Remove the front hair piece as directed, then take out the face plate.
- Fit the alternate plate and reassemble the head in the order shown in the manual.
The cited manual advises trying warm water if connecting or replacing parts is difficult and warns users to avoid burns. Treat this as model-specific guidance, not a general heating or repair method. The same manual explains that the support arm’s wide plug goes into the base and its thin plug into the figure; it also warns that overtightening the support-arm screws may cause damage.

Can you swap parts between Nendoroids?
Some parts are designed to be shared, but “Nendoroid” does not mean every component fits every figure. Compatibility depends on the line and the particular connection—such as the head and neck, hands, face plate, body, clothing or stand.
Regular Nendoroids and Nendoroid [Basic]
Good Smile says Nendoroid [Basic] figures omit face plates and optional parts while retaining the regular line’s functionality. Its feature page says [Basic] figures can share hand, leg, head and face-plate parts with other Nendoroids. This is a series-level compatibility statement, not a guarantee that every sculpted piece, accessory or part from every release will fit. Check the exact figure’s listing and manual. Nendoroid Doll
Nendoroid Dolls use Nendoroid heads and a matching neck-joint design, and Good Smile says Nendoroid-series hand parts can be used on Dolls. The company also cautions that some heads and hands may not be compatible. A Doll’s more articulated body is a distinct format, so do not assume standard Nendoroid bodies or clothing will fit it. Nendoroid Surprise
Nendoroid Surprise figures are non-articulated. Good Smile does not recommend swapping their character parts with other figures, although it says their heads can be interchanged. That limited head exception does not make the other parts broadly compatible. Good Smile’s Nendoroid Surprise overview

What should you check before buying a part or accessory?
Start with the connection you want to use, then verify compatibility for the specific model. A part described as compatible with the Nendoroid series may still not suit every figure or connection.
- Connection: Is it meant for the head/neck, hands, face plate, body or stand?
- Exact model: Does the listing or manufacturer guidance name your figure or confirm that connection?
- Box contents: Check what is included with the figure; face plates and optional parts differ by release.
- Origin and description: Distinguish official accessories from original custom items and third-party listings. Good Smile’s published guideline permits creators to describe their own original outfits and parts as compatible, but prohibits misleading claims implying Good Smile made or endorsed them and restricts reproductions. Stand options

Good Smile also identifies the Nendoroid Easel Stand as a possible alternative when an original stand breaks, subject to the figure’s design. It is not a universal replacement. Good Smile’s guidance on broken or lost parts
Can you buy a replacement Nendoroid part?
Good Smile says it does not sell individual parts and does not offer repairs. It notes that spare neck joints are included with the series, but that does not mean every missing or broken component can be replaced through the manufacturer. For a stand problem, the Easel Stand may work if the figure’s design allows it; for other parts, check the figure’s packaging and official support guidance before relying on a third-party listing.
