The February 8, 2023 Hyperledger Foundation webinar was a product presentation and live demonstration—not independent evidence that SIAM’s valuations predict sale prices, that its blockchain records establish legal rights, or that the service remains available today.
What the February 2023 webinar covered
The Hyperledger Foundation’s event description asked how SIAM could help businesses “maximize the value of your intangible assets.” It identified IPwe President Leann Pinto as a featured speaker and described a live demonstration. The on-demand listing records the event date as February 8, 2023.

The planned demonstration and discussion included patent valuation benchmarks, competitive analysis reports, projections of portfolio financial performance, potential revenue-generation opportunities, and patent NFTs as a way to improve patent data management and storage. These are features the organizer said the session would cover; the event description does not independently establish their accuracy or results.
What SIAM was described as doing
IPwe’s January 18, 2023 launch announcement described SIAM as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for IP management, valuation, and transactions. The company said it used Clarivate patent datasets together with IPwe’s valuation algorithm and artificial intelligence. The announcement is the issuer’s product positioning, not an independent evaluation of the algorithm.

The webinar materials describe portfolio benchmarks and analysis, but do not show that a platform estimate is the price a buyer would pay. A benchmark or projection can inform internal assessment; it is not, by itself, a verified market valuation or a guaranteed revenue opportunity.
What was announced about Clarivate and IPfolio
In November 2022, Clarivate announced a strategic partnership with IPwe, describing plans to provide curated patent data for use in IPwe’s AI, predictive analytics, and blockchain platform. In May 2023, Clarivate announced SIAM’s integration into IPfolio, with access to patent-level and portfolio-level financial benchmarks and competitor and peer portfolio metrics.

These are dated company announcements: the partnership announcement and IPfolio integration announcement. They establish what the companies said at the time, not whether SIAM or the integration is currently offered in the same form. The materials cited here do not provide current pricing, onboarding instructions, or an up-to-date availability statement.
How the announced patent NFT architecture was supposed to work
In its February 2, 2023 announcement, the Hyperledger Foundation said IPwe had deployed 25 million patent NFTs alongside SIAM’s launch. The announcement described a hybrid architecture combining the permissioned Hyperledger Fabric network with the public Casper blockchain. The accompanying presentation described IPwe Digital Assets as dynamic NFTs that encapsulate information about IP on a blockchain.

The Hyperledger Foundation announcement characterized the design as combining a consortium ledger with public verifiability and access. The stated deployment count and technical description should be understood as claims made in that announcement; the available materials do not provide an independent audit of the count.
A ledger can record or organize information, but that fact alone does not establish who legally owns a patent, whether a patent is valid or enforceable, or what it would sell for. The announcement’s further descriptions of faster transactions, verified ownership, valuation quality, and market impact are promotional claims, not independently validated findings in the materials reviewed here.

What the cited numbers do—and do not—show
The Hyperledger Foundation’s 2023 announcement also stated that intangible assets represented 90% of the S&P 500’s value; that approximately 25 million active patents existed worldwide; that more than $1 trillion in IP opportunities were lost annually; and that approximately 95% of IP assets were not transacted or commercialized. These are figures stated by the announcement, not independently confirmed measurements here. Its underlying references have not been verified in the sources cited for this article, so the figures should not be treated as settled statistics.

The product and event pages describe features and architecture, but do not supply controlled evaluations, accuracy benchmarks, independently measured customer outcomes, or comparative performance results. In particular, they do not show how closely SIAM’s valuations matched transactions or how its analysis compared with other tools.

How to assess a platform like SIAM
For an organization evaluating IP portfolio software, the announced feature set suggests questions to resolve before relying on any output:
- Data provenance and coverage: Which patent records and other inputs are included, how current are they, and how are corrections handled?
- Valuation method: What factors drive an estimate, can users understand them, and does the tool communicate uncertainty rather than imply a precise sale price?
- Reporting level: Are results available for individual patents, whole portfolios, or both, and how are portfolio projections calculated?
- Competitive analysis: How are peer and competitor portfolios selected, and can the organization inspect the basis for those comparisons?
- Transaction workflow: Does the service support actual licensing or transaction processes, or does it identify possible opportunities without executing them?
- Integration and deployment: Which business systems can connect to it, and what are the privacy, access-control, and security arrangements?
The cited sources do not provide a neutral head-to-head comparison or enough evidence to rank SIAM against alternatives. Those questions are due diligence prompts, not capabilities established by the webinar.
What can be concluded about SIAM today
The February 2023 session presented SIAM as an enterprise tool for IP portfolio management, valuation, analysis, and transaction-related opportunities, with patent NFTs and a hybrid ledger architecture as part of IPwe’s announced approach. The sources document the presentation and the companies’ descriptions at that time. They do not establish present-day availability, independently verified valuation performance, customer outcomes, or legal effects of recording patent information on a blockchain.
