Buying Ultimate Team Coins from a third party or moving Coins to another account can put your EA account at risk. EA prohibits both practices, including disguising a transfer as a Transfer Market sale. EA may limit or revoke your Transfer Market access, but its general rules do not promise a specific penalty or duration for every case. Coin sellers can also put your account and its contents at risk by asking for your login details.
What does EA mean by buying or transferring Coins?
EA allows players to earn Ultimate Team Coins through game activity and fair sales of tradeable items. It does not allow players to buy Coins from third parties or distribute Coins to another account. EA summarizes its position plainly: “Buying Coins from a third party is against our rules.” Its stated reason for restricting distribution is that it disrupts the market players use to acquire Ultimate Team items. EA’s FC rules and its Coins and Points safety guidance describe the prohibited conduct and the permitted ways to earn Coins.

“Transfer” can mean two different things here. A player may legitimately sell a tradeable item for Coins at a fair market price. That is different from using an item listing as a disguised payment channel to move Coins between accounts. EA’s concern is the purpose of the transaction and the pattern of activity—not simply the fact that an item changed hands.

In other words, an item sale is not a general-purpose way to send a balance to someone else. If the buyer and seller use an item listing as a pretext and set the price to route Coins, EA identifies that as prohibited distribution. A normal trade has an item-use purpose and a fair price shaped by the market; an arranged coin transfer is meant to deliver Coins to a particular account. EA’s rules do not describe a permitted exception for a friend, a gift, or a private agreement.

Which actions are against the rules?
Buying Coins from a seller
Paying a third party for Coins is prohibited. EA says players can earn Coins through Ultimate Team activity and sales of tradeable items, but cannot purchase them from outside sellers. The payment method or seller’s promise does not make the transaction an approved way to obtain Coins. A seller may advertise a fast delivery or a particular amount, but neither claim changes EA’s policy status for third-party purchases.
Sending Coins to a friend
A direct gift of Coins to another account is distribution, which EA prohibits. The fact that the recipient is a friend or that no money changes hands does not turn the transfer into a permitted transaction. EA specifically gives sending Coins to a friend as an example of coin distribution, so the rule is not limited to commercial sellers.
Using the Transfer Market to route Coins
EA also prohibits using the Transfer Market to move Coins between accounts rather than to buy or sell an item for legitimate Club use. This includes deliberately listing or buying an item far above or below its average price to route Coins. The involvement of an item does not make a transfer acceptable if the purpose is to move Coins rather than trade the item fairly.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →EA says each item has a minimum and maximum listing price, while its average price changes with overall demand. So an unusual sale price, by itself, is not proof that a player broke the rules. The important distinction in EA’s guidance is whether the transaction is a fair item sale or a way to transfer Coins. A listing being within the permitted minimum and maximum does not, by itself, make a deliberate coin-routing transaction legitimate; the stated purpose still matters. Conversely, the rules do not say that every unusual price or one-off market result automatically proves a violation.
When buying or selling an item for your Club, use the market as a market: consider the item’s current demand and performance, and price it fairly. Avoid arranging a price primarily to create a Coins payment to another account. This distinction is useful because both actions can involve the same interface and an item changing hands, while EA treats the intended use of the transaction differently.

What can happen to your account?
EA says buying or distributing Coins can put an account at risk. One possible consequence is that EA limits or revokes Transfer Market access in the Companion App, on console, or on PC. A restriction on market access can affect the ways you manage and trade items through those interfaces.
EA’s general rules page describes possible actions; it does not set out an automatic first-offense penalty, a fixed ban length, or a guaranteed outcome for every account. The result in an individual case therefore cannot be predicted from the published general rules. Do not assume that every incident produces the same restriction—or that a particular transaction will go unnoticed.
That uncertainty cuts both ways: EA’s public rules do not let a player calculate a guaranteed sanction from the amount transferred, the number of transactions, or whether it was a first incident. Nor do they promise that a small transfer will be ignored. The accurate takeaway is that buying or distributing Coins creates account risk and market access may be limited or revoked; the exact decision and duration are not specified as a universal rule.
Why is buying or moving Coins risky beyond the rules?
There is a separate account-security risk. EA warns that third-party Coin sellers may ask for login details and then steal Coins, items, players, or the account itself. Sharing account information violates EA’s rules, and handing credentials to a seller exposes more than the balance being purchased.
EA also says buying Coins can inflate Transfer Market item prices, making items harder for players who earned their Coins legitimately to afford. It describes buying and distributing Coins as harmful to the experience of other players and to the market environment. Those are EA’s stated reasons for its policy, not a published independent measurement of how much a particular transaction changes prices.

EA advises players to keep account credentials private and use official versions of its games and official Web or Companion Apps. A seller’s request for a password or other login details is not a safe shortcut to a transaction. Do not share credentials simply because a seller says they need access to deliver Coins; EA’s warning is that this can expose the account and its contents.

How do legitimate ways to earn Coins compare?
| Route | EA policy status | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| Buy Coins from a third party | Prohibited | Coins come from an outside seller rather than Ultimate Team activity or a fair sale of a tradeable item. |
| Send Coins to another account | Prohibited | EA treats direct gifts and other coin distribution as prohibited. |
| Route Coins through an item listing | Prohibited when used to transfer Coins | Using an item transaction as a disguised payment channel is different from selling an item at a fair price. |
| Play Ultimate Team matches | Permitted | EA lists match play as a legitimate way to earn Coins; rewards depend on mode and performance or rank. |
| Quick-sell tradeable items | Permitted | EA identifies quick-selling tradeable items as another way to obtain Coins. |
| Sell tradeable items at fair prices | Permitted | Use the Transfer Market for a legitimate item sale, with prices informed by supply, demand, and performance. |
EA’s published Season 1 rewards for EA SPORTS FC 26 show the scale of some mode rewards, but these figures are not permanent guarantees. The ranges below are for Season 1, as listed by EA in 2026; EA cautions that rewards may change during the year and in future seasons.
| Mode | Season 1 EA SPORTS FC 26 reward range |
|---|---|
| Rivals weekly rewards | 1,500–25,000 Coins |
| Champions weekly rewards | 2,000–85,000 Coins |
| Squad Battles rewards | 3,000–20,000 Coins |
The listed ranges are not a flat payment available to every player for simply entering a mode: EA describes rewards as dependent on mode and performance or rank. Champions has the highest maximum in these Season 1 ranges, but the ranges are not a promise of what an individual will earn. They illustrate that legitimate match rewards can vary substantially by mode and result.
Check the in-game mode hub for the reward list that applies to the current season. Rewards depend on the mode and a player’s performance or rank, and the Season 1 ranges should not be treated as fixed amounts for later seasons. Fair sales also vary: supply, demand, and player performance can change item prices, so a price that made sense at one point may not remain appropriate.
What should you do if you already bought or transferred Coins?
Do not make another transfer or try to disguise one as an ordinary item sale. EA’s rules do not provide a reliable way to predict how it will handle a particular account, so there is no sound basis for promising that the account will—or will not—lose market access.

If you gave a seller your login details, treat that as a security issue as well as a policy issue. Keep credentials private and use EA’s official game versions and Web or Companion Apps; do not continue sharing account information with a seller. EA warns that account contents—including Coins, items, and players—may be stolen when sellers obtain login details.
For future Coin earnings, use match rewards, quick-sell tradeable items, or sell tradeable items at fair Transfer Market prices. Those are the routes EA identifies as legitimate, rather than purchases from third parties or account-to-account distribution. The core distinction is simple: earn Coins through play or fair Club-related item sales, and do not use another account or a market listing as a channel for delivering Coins.

Can I send Ultimate Team Coins to a friend?
No. EA expressly treats sending Coins to a friend as coin distribution, which it prohibits. The relationship between the accounts and whether money changes hands do not make the gift an approved transfer.
Can EA take away my Transfer Market access for buying Coins?
EA says buying or distributing Coins can put an account at risk and may result in limited or revoked Transfer Market access on the Companion App, console, or PC. Its general rules do not specify an automatic penalty or fixed restriction length for every case.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat happens if I use the Transfer Market to transfer Coins?
EA prohibits using an item listing to route Coins between accounts instead of making a fair sale for legitimate Club use. Deliberately pricing an item far above or below its average price to move Coins is an example EA identifies. An unusual price alone is not stated to prove a violation; purpose and transaction pattern matter.
Best Value
Is every unusual item price against EA’s rules?
EA’s guidance does not say that every unusual price automatically proves a violation. It says items have minimum and maximum listing prices and average prices move with demand, while specifically prohibiting deliberate item transactions used to transfer Coins. Price limits do not make a disguised coin transfer acceptable.
What are safe ways to earn Ultimate Team Coins?
EA identifies playing matches, quick-selling tradeable items, and selling tradeable items at fair Transfer Market prices. Mode rewards depend on performance or rank, and item prices can change with supply, demand, and performance. Check the in-game mode hub for current rewards.
Can a Coin seller steal my account?
EA warns that sellers may ask for login details and steal Coins, items, players, or the account itself. Keep credentials private and use official EA game versions and official Web or Companion Apps.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: EA prohibits third-party Coin purchases, direct gifts, and using item listings to route Coins between accounts. A fair sale for legitimate Club use is different, but disguising a Coins transfer as an item trade is still prohibited. EA may limit or revoke Transfer Market access, though it does not publish a fixed penalty for every case. Earn Coins through matches and fair item sales, and never give a seller your login details.
