For the familiar USDC route, you deposit USDC from Arbitrum through Hyperliquid’s interface. Once credited, it appears in your account and can be allocated between spot and perpetuals balances. The exact route depends on the asset and network selected in the current deposit interface.
What happens in the classic Arbitrum USDC route?
- Choose the deposit route in Hyperliquid. Open the current deposit interface and follow the asset and network it specifies. Hyperliquid’s onboarding guide lists USDC and ETH on Arbitrum among supported combinations, alongside other assets, networks, and methods. See Hyperliquid Docs: How to start trading.
- Send the specified asset on the specified network. In the familiar route, USDC begins on Arbitrum and is sent over Arbitrum to Hyperliquid’s legacy bridge contract. Do not send a token just because it is called USDC: tokens on different networks are not automatically interchangeable for this deposit.
- Wait for the deposit to be credited. When the transfer is processed, the balance appears in your Hyperliquid account. You can then move funds between spot and perpetuals balances within the account; that internal allocation is distinct from moving funds to another blockchain.
Hyperliquid’s documentation also describes CCTP and direct exchange routes. Those are not all the same bridge flow, and the interface’s displayed asset, network, and method—not the general USDC example above—should determine what you send. The onboarding guide is the starting point for the current options: How to start trading.

What does “bridging” mean here, and who operates the route?
In the classic route, funds leave the source network and are deposited through Hyperliquid’s bridge process. Hyperliquid’s API reference describes withdrawals as requests signed by L1 validators and sent to the bridge contract. Deposits through third-party services are a separate matter: Hyperliquid documentation lists independent providers that can move funds to Arbitrum, but those services should not be mistaken for Hyperliquid’s native bridge. Route options and providers can change; compare the source and destination networks, supported token, fees, estimated time, operator, and support terms before proceeding. The relevant documentation is Hyperliquid Docs: How to start trading.

What fees and timing should you expect?
Gas costs and trading fees are different. Hyperliquid says native gas is required for deposits on some routes, while trading itself is gas-free. Some withdrawal chains and methods may have small gas fees. Check the current interface for the route you are using rather than assuming every deposit or withdrawal has the same cost.

Hyperliquid’s API reference states, “There is a $1 fee for withdrawing at the time of this writing and withdrawals take approximately 5 minutes to finalize.” The page does not provide a captured publication date, and both the fee and timing are volatile documentation claims—not a guaranteed current charge or service level. Check the current withdrawal screen. Source: Hyperliquid Docs: Exchange endpoint.
How is withdrawing different from sending?
Withdraw moves funds from Hyperliquid to a supported destination outside the account, through a separate transaction flow. Hyperliquid’s API documentation says validators sign the withdrawal request and send it to the bridge contract. By contrast, Send transfers funds to another account on Hyperliquid; it does not withdraw to another blockchain. Hyperliquid Support states: “Send is used to send tokens to another account on the Hyperliquid blockchain. It is not to withdraw to another blockchain.” Read the withdrawal troubleshooting guide and verify the action label and destination before confirming.

What should you do if a deposit or withdrawal is missing?
- Identify the action and route. Check whether you made a deposit, a blockchain withdrawal, or an internal Send. Confirm the asset, source network, destination, and address against the transaction details.
- For a missing withdrawal, inspect the activity table. Open the Deposits & Withdrawals table, check the action and status, then follow the explorer link if the withdrawal is marked complete. A completed explorer transaction is different from an internal transfer that has not left Hyperliquid.
- For a missing deposit, use the route-specific help page. Hyperliquid Support maintains separate missing-deposit guidance. Start from its deposit or transfer issues index and select the guide matching the asset and network used.
- If you sent to an exchange, contact that exchange as appropriate. Hyperliquid Support warns that a Send to a centralized exchange may only be accessible to that exchange; retrieving it may require the exchange to integrate the Hyperliquid blockchain.
Do not assume a wrong-network or unsupported-token transfer can be recovered. Follow the support instructions for the exact route and do not share a private key or recovery phrase with anyone claiming to help.
What security risks remain?
Hyperliquid’s audit page says, “The Hyperliquid legacy bridge contract has been audited by Zellic,” and links the audit reports. That identifies an audit of the legacy bridge contract; it is not a guarantee of safety, does not establish coverage of every current deposit route, and does not replace your own risk assessment. See Hyperliquid Docs: Audits.

Your wallet’s private key or recovery phrase is another critical risk: anyone with access can access the funds. Hyperliquid recommends keeping the recovery phrase in a safe physical location. A hardware wallet may help protect keys, but it is not required to bridge and does not remove bridge or protocol risk. Never disclose a seed phrase or private key.
