Canceling PlayStation Plus does not cut off access straight away: your benefits continue until the end of the paid subscription period. After that, games you accessed through the membership and other Plus benefits become unavailable. Games you bought—even at a Plus discount—and Plus packs or avatars you redeemed are treated differently: PlayStation says you keep those.
When does access actually end?
Cancellation stops the subscription from automatically continuing; it does not end the paid period early. PlayStation says benefits remain available until that period ends. That distinction matters if you are deciding whether to renew: the relevant date is the end of the current paid period, not the day you select Cancel. PlayStation says you can reactivate before the next payment date if you change your mind.

Do I keep the games I downloaded with PS Plus?
It depends on how you got the game. If you claimed it as a monthly Plus game or downloaded it from the Extra or Premium catalog, access comes from the subscription; downloading it does not convert it into a purchase. If you bought the game, including at a Plus discount, PlayStation says you keep it after the membership ends.

Check the game’s purchase or entitlement details in your account if you are unsure whether you bought it or only accessed it through Plus.
What if a catalog game leaves before my subscription expires?
A catalog game can leave the service independently of your subscription’s end date. If that happens, its subscription-based access ends even if your membership is still active. Catalog availability depends on tier and region, and can change. Check the local PlayStation Store and the terms for your country; PlayStation’s Canada terms, for example, say availability can depend on country or region, tier, account and other factors. What happens to DLC if a PS Plus game leaves?
Buying DLC for a catalog game does not buy the base game or grant continuing access to it. PlayStation says the add-ons cannot be used if the membership ends or the base game leaves the catalog. You can use the purchased add-ons again if you resubscribe or purchase that game. Whether a particular game is sold separately, and in what format, depends on that title and your region. Online storage is listed among the benefits you lose when the subscription ends. The cited PlayStation guidance does not establish how long cloud saves are retained afterward, so it does not support a claim that they are deleted immediately or that a particular grace period applies. If a save matters, check PlayStation’s current support information for your region before your membership expires. PlayStation Plus support.

How to decide whether to renew
- Identify the access type: distinguish monthly games from Extra or Premium catalog titles. Both rely on Plus, but catalog titles can also leave the service while a membership remains active.
- Check whether you own the base game: a Plus download or claim is not the same as buying it. A discounted purchase is retained; a subscription entitlement is not.
- Account for paid add-ons: if you bought DLC for a catalog game, PlayStation identifies renewing or purchasing the base game as ways to regain use of that DLC.
- Check your local catalog: available titles and benefits can vary by tier and country or region, so confirm availability in your local PlayStation Store and terms.
