The artist and release date matter: José José, Lucía Méndez, Malú, Elly Aerden and José María Napoleón are all associated with works called Vive.
What does “vive” mean in music?
The meaning depends on how the word is being used. French music vocabulary uses vive to mean “lively,” a description of energetic or animated character. The French-origin exclamation vive means “long live” or “up with,” expressing support or celebration. Musicca’s French music dictionary gives both senses; Collins English Dictionary records the exclamation.
Those meanings can suggest different things in a song or album title: vive might point toward musical energy, or toward an affirmation of life, a person or an idea. But a title alone does not establish which meaning an artist intends. Some works named Vive are Spanish-language releases or use the word in a different linguistic context.
Is Vive one particular song or album?
No. Vive is a shared title, not the name of one canonical recording. Documented releases include albums by José José, Lucía Méndez, Malú and Elly Aerden, as well as a song by José María Napoleón. To identify the work a search result refers to, check the artist, language, release year and format.

What is Malú’s Vive?
Malú’s Vive is an 11-track pop-rock album released on 17 March 2009. The singer said she wanted to capture “another energy and other feelings.” She also described the album as “desgarradoramente optimista,” meaning “devastatingly optimistic,” and said it was not a dramatic record. That contrast offers a clue to the intended mood: emotional intensity, but with an affirmative outlook. LaHiguera’s release page gives the date, track list and her comments.

What is Elly Aerden’s Vive?
Elly Aerden’s Vive is a 2017 CD by the Belgian singer. Its title is glossed as “Life,” and its songs use Latin, Spanish and Portuguese texts. The retailer’s description presents the album’s theme as life in all its aspects and lists a running time of 48 minutes and 23 seconds. These details point to a different musical and linguistic context from Malú’s pop-rock album. Galileo Music Webshop’s album listing provides the CD details, including its track list, label, barcode and release date.

What does José María Napoleón’s “Vive” mean?
For Mexican songwriter and performer José María Napoleón, “Vive” is an affirmation of existence. In an interview published by Línea Directa on 18 October 2024, he called it “un himno a la existencia” (“a hymn to existence”), said the song began his success, and described it as his usual concert closer. He also noted that audiences across generations sing it. The interview documents how the song functions in his performances and how he interprets it; it does not, by itself, establish the release date or format.

- Start with the artist. Add the name—such as Malú, Elly Aerden or José María Napoleón—to distinguish works with the same title.
- Check the format and year. A 2009 album or CD is not the same release as a 2017 CD, and a song listing may not identify an album edition.
- Use the musical or linguistic clues. Malú’s 2009 release is pop-rock; Aerden’s 2017 CD uses Latin, Spanish and Portuguese texts. The French meaning of vive is not proof that a particular recording is French.
- For a physical copy, search precisely. “Malú Vive CD” or “Elly Aerden Vive CD” narrows the results. Check the seller’s listing for edition, territory and stock, since catalog records do not guarantee present-day availability.
