In Steam’s September 2026 PC video-card results, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 has the highest listed share among the named models shown: 6.15%. The figure describes hardware reported in Steam’s survey, not GPU sales or the share of every PC owner. Steam describes the survey as monthly, optional and anonymous.
Which GPUs are most popular in Steam’s September 2026 results?
The model percentages below are the shares listed in Steam’s September 2026 PC video-card table. Steam’s results include both desktop and laptop GPU labels, so the model names matter when comparing them.

These are survey shares, not a performance ranking. Steam’s table reports prevalence; it does not establish which card is fastest, best value, most reliable or most suitable for a particular buyer.

What population does the Steam GPU survey represent?
Steam says it conducts a monthly survey to collect data about the computer hardware and software its customers use. Participation is optional and anonymous. The figures are therefore best described as results among Steam survey respondents—not as global GPU market share, a tally of graphics-card sales or a census of all PC owners. Steam’s Hardware & Software Survey overview does not provide a sampling frame, response rate or weighting details sufficient to establish how closely the results represent a broader population.

Why did the RTX 5070 share jump?
Steam’s table shows the RTX 5070 moving from 3.77% in August to 6.15% in September 2026, a displayed increase of 2.38 percentage points. The page does not explain the cause. The change should not, by itself, be read as evidence of a matching rise in sales, a change in the installed base or a sampling adjustment. Steam’s PC video-card results report the values, but do not attribute the movement.
How do the DirectX figures differ from GPU model popularity?
Steam also reports capability groupings, which answer a different question from the model table. In its September 2026 technology summary, DirectX 12 GPUs are listed at 92.19%, DirectX 11 at 0.35%, and DirectX 8 and below at 7.29%. These are capability-category shares, not the percentage held by a particular GPU model or brand. Steam’s DirectX summary should therefore not be used to rank individual cards.

How to use these figures
- Use “among Steam survey respondents” when describing a model’s listed share.
- Compare like with like, and keep labels such as “Laptop GPU” visible rather than treating desktop and laptop models as interchangeable.
- Read month-to-month changes as changes shown in the survey table; the table alone does not explain their cause or establish sales trends.
- Use benchmarks, current prices and your own requirements to judge performance or purchase value; popularity data does not answer those questions.
