Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd makes the hardware, semiconductor components, intellectual property and diagnostics software that move data through AI, cloud and hyperscale data-center networks. It earns revenue primarily by selling those connectivity products and integrated solutions to enterprise infrastructure customers, cloud operators and system vendors. Its portfolio spans copper and optical links—from chip-to-chip connections inside a server to high-speed links between switches—and includes active electrical cables, optical transceivers, optical DSPs, silicon-photonics components, retimers, SerDes IP and the PILOT analytics platform.
What Credo Technology makes
Credo is best understood as a data-center connectivity company rather than a maker of consumer electronics. Modern AI clusters contain thousands of processors, memory devices and switches that must exchange enormous volumes of data with very low error rates. Credo supplies components and systems that carry, condition, convert, monitor or help design those links.

Active electrical cables and optical transceivers
Active electrical cables (AECs) use electronics inside a cable assembly to preserve signal quality over a practical data-center reach. They are used for high-bandwidth connections where a passive copper cable would lose too much signal integrity or where optical modules would add unnecessary cost, power or complexity. Credo markets its AEC family under the ZeroFlap name.

Optical transceivers convert electrical signals to light and back again so data can travel over fiber. Credo’s September 15, 2026 ZeroFlap announcement describes a 1.6-terabit-per-second optical transceiver family built around 224-gigabit-per-lane technology. The announced form factors include 2xDR4, 2xFR4 and DR8. Credo says the family combines its optical digital signal processor (DSP), Kfir200 silicon-photonics photonic integrated circuit (PIC) and PILOT diagnostics. Those are the company’s product claims; the announcement is not an independent performance test.

Optical DSPs and silicon-photonics PICs
An optical DSP is a specialized semiconductor that prepares electrical data for transmission through an optical link and compensates for impairments introduced by the channel and the optical components. A silicon-photonics PIC integrates optical functions onto a silicon-based circuit, helping create smaller, repeatable optical engines for transceivers and other data-center links.
These parts can be sold as components to module makers or incorporated into Credo’s own connectivity products. They are not the same as a general-purpose processor: their job is to handle the electrical, optical and signal-processing functions required by a high-speed connection.
AI memory and chip-to-chip interconnect
Credo’s OmniConnect products address links between processors, memory and other devices inside AI systems. Chip-to-chip interconnect determines how quickly an accelerator can exchange data with nearby components, while memory interconnect affects how efficiently the system feeds those accelerators. The product category therefore targets the internal fabric of an AI server or accelerator platform, not only the external network cables visible between machines.
Ethernet and PCIe retimers
A retimer receives a high-speed electrical signal, reconstructs it and sends a cleaner version onward. This allows a board or system designer to meet reach and signal-integrity requirements that a direct trace or cable might not satisfy. Credo offers retimers for Ethernet and PCI Express (PCIe) applications, covering both network links and the PCIe connections used between processors, accelerators, storage and expansion devices.
SerDes intellectual property
SerDes means serializer/deserializer. The circuitry converts parallel data into a serial stream for transmission and converts it back at the receiving end. Credo licenses SerDes intellectual property (IP) to chip and system designers that want to build high-speed interfaces into their own silicon. IP licensing broadens Credo’s role beyond selling a finished module: a customer can use the design technology as part of a custom chip or platform.

PILOT diagnostics and analytics
PILOT is Credo’s diagnostics and analytics software platform for its connectivity products. It provides telemetry and link-health information so operators can observe connections, identify failing fibers or modules and investigate intermittent link flaps. The available company descriptions present PILOT as software supporting connectivity hardware, not as a separately established consumer application or general-purpose monitoring service.
How the products fit together in a data center
Credo’s portfolio covers several layers of a data-center connection. At the shortest distance, SerDes IP and retimers help a chip or board move data electrically. OmniConnect targets the processor-and-memory paths inside an AI system. AECs provide high-speed copper connections between nearby components or systems. Optical DSPs, PICs and transceivers convert signals for fiber links that connect servers, switches and larger network tiers. PILOT adds operational visibility across supported links.
This breadth is why calling Credo simply a “chip company” is incomplete. It does design semiconductor components and licenses semiconductor IP, but it also sells cable assemblies, optical modules and software-enabled solutions. Conversely, describing it only as a cable supplier misses the silicon and design technology underneath those products.
Who buys Credo’s products?
The intended customers are data-center operators, cloud providers, hyperscalers, enterprise infrastructure organizations and the system vendors that build equipment for them. A system vendor may incorporate a Credo retimer, DSP or PIC into a switch, server, accelerator platform or optical module. An infrastructure operator may deploy finished cables or transceivers as part of a large network buildout. The public material does not identify a product-by-product customer list or disclose how much revenue comes from direct sales versus system vendors.
These are specialized infrastructure components selected by engineering and procurement teams. They require compatibility with a target switch, server, accelerator, connector, cable reach and management environment. They are not ordinary accessories intended for a home PC or a general retail shelf.

How Credo makes money
Credo’s basic monetization model is business-to-business sales of connectivity hardware, semiconductor components, licensed IP and associated software-enabled solutions. Customers purchase the products for inclusion in data-center systems or for deployment in network infrastructure. The company reports revenue at the corporate level; the reviewed financial releases do not provide a current split among AECs, transceivers, DSPs, PICs, retimers, memory interconnect, SerDes IP and PILOT.
Product and solution sales
Finished AECs and optical transceivers generate sales when customers order physical link products. DSPs, PICs and retimers can be sold as components for a customer’s design or as part of a Credo module. OmniConnect products address specialized AI-system interconnect programs. The price, volume and gross margin of each category can differ substantially, but the available disclosures do not quantify those economics by line.
Semiconductor IP licensing
SerDes IP lets Credo monetize design work without shipping a finished cable or module for every deployment. A customer licenses the interface technology for use in its own chip or system. The public information identifies SerDes IP as part of the portfolio but does not state royalty rates, contract terms or the proportion of company revenue attributable to licensing.
Software attached to hardware operations
PILOT supports monitoring and troubleshooting of supported connectivity products. That capability can make a hardware deployment easier to operate and diagnose. Credo’s descriptions do not establish a standalone PILOT subscription price, a separate software segment or a consumer sales channel, so it would be inaccurate to treat PILOT as an independently reported software business.

| Period | Revenue | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| Fiscal 2027 first quarter, quarter ended August 1, 2026 | $479.0 million | Latest reported quarterly revenue identified in the available releases |
| Fiscal 2026 fourth quarter, quarter ended May 2, 2026 | $437.0 million | Reported quarterly revenue for the final quarter of fiscal 2026 |
| Fiscal year ended May 2, 2026 | $1.335 billion | Reported full-year revenue |
| Fiscal 2027 second-quarter outlook | $525 million to $535 million | Management guidance issued September 1, 2026; it is not a reported result |
In the fiscal 2026 results context, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Brennan said, “Fiscal 2026 marked another defining year for Credo. For the year, revenue more than tripled to $1.3 billion, and non-GAAP net income increased more than five times to $662 million.” That is management’s description of the fiscal year and uses non-GAAP net income for the profit figure.
The figures show the scale of the business, but they do not answer which product family drove a particular quarter. Without a disclosed product-line breakdown, assigning the revenue to cables, optics, retimers, IP or software would be speculation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the ZeroFlap announcement adds
The September 15, 2026 announcement illustrates how Credo combines several parts of its portfolio in one offering. The stated 1.6T family uses 224G-per-lane signaling, optical modules in 2xDR4, 2xFR4 and DR8 configurations, the company’s optical DSP and Kfir200 PIC, plus PILOT monitoring. Credo says the diagnostics are intended to monitor link health and detect fiber issues and link flaps in AI networks.
VP of Product Ameet Suri described the operational problem this way: “Getting an AI cluster online—and keeping it running—starts with a stable network.” The quotation expresses the product rationale; it is not independent evidence that every deployment will achieve a particular uptime or performance level.

Strategic developments and what they mean
DustPhotonics acquisition agreement
On April 13, 2026, Credo announced a definitive agreement to acquire DustPhotonics, a developer of silicon-photonics PIC technology. Credo framed the transaction as a way to expand its optical-connectivity stack. The announcement also cited a $6 billion silicon-photonics PIC market estimate for 2030 attributed jointly to LightCounting and Credo. That is a market forecast, not Credo’s expected revenue, and the agreement announcement alone does not establish that the acquisition was completed or that integration has occurred.

Open CPX MSA membership
On August 31, 2026, Credo announced that it had joined the Open CPX MSA, an industry effort focused on common interfaces for near-package and co-packaged optical connections. Participation places Credo in an interoperability and ecosystem-development discussion for future AI infrastructure. Membership does not prove that a future standard has broad adoption or that it has already produced commercial sales.
How to evaluate a Credo product for a real deployment
A buyer or engineer comparing connectivity options should start with the system requirement, not the product name. The relevant decision axes are:
- Medium: choose copper, an active electrical cable or optical fiber based on reach, power, cost, electromagnetic environment and serviceability.
- Link speed: match the lane rate and aggregate bandwidth to the switch, server or accelerator interface; a module cannot create bandwidth that the platform does not support.
- Reach and form factor: verify the required distance and whether the design calls for a 2xDR4, 2xFR4, DR8 or another optical configuration.
- Platform compatibility: check connector type, Ethernet or PCIe generation, host electrical specifications, firmware expectations and management support.
- Signal integrity and power: account for retimer placement, board loss, cable loss, thermal limits and the system’s power budget.
- Operations: decide whether telemetry, link-health monitoring and automated fault isolation are required; PILOT is relevant where the deployed hardware supports it.
Credo’s public material does not provide a universal price list or independent head-to-head benchmark for these choices. Actual procurement normally depends on a qualified bill of materials, interoperability testing and the customer’s deployment scale.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIs Credo a consumer technology company?
No. Its products are designed for specialized data-center and communications infrastructure. An individual looking for a home networking cable, a desktop upgrade or a consumer software utility is not the target buyer described by Credo’s product materials. Access to the products generally occurs through enterprise procurement, system design programs and infrastructure channels rather than ordinary retail selection.
What is established—and what is not
- Established by the company’s descriptions: Credo sells connectivity products and related solutions spanning copper, optical, semiconductor, IP and diagnostics categories.
- Established by reported results: company-level revenue was $479.0 million in fiscal 2027’s first quarter ended August 1, 2026, and $1.335 billion for fiscal 2026 ended May 2, 2026.
- Not established in the available disclosures: a current percentage split of revenue by product family, standalone PILOT subscription revenue, product pricing, customer-by-customer sales or independent performance rankings.
- Still prospective: the commercial impact of the DustPhotonics acquisition agreement and Open CPX MSA participation cannot be inferred solely from those announcements.
Bottom line
Credo makes the connectivity layer that lets AI and cloud data centers move data between chips, memory, servers and switches. Its money comes from selling AECs, optical transceivers, DSPs, PICs, retimers and AI interconnect products, licensing SerDes IP and supporting deployments with PILOT diagnostics. The company discloses strong overall revenue growth, but not a product-by-product revenue mix, so any claim that one category is responsible for a specific share of sales would go beyond the published information.
