“You’re All Caught Up” is an Instagram Feed status message indicating that you’ve reached the recent posts it is presenting from accounts you follow. When Instagram introduced it in 2018, the company described the cutoff as posts from the previous two days. That was launch-era wording, not a guarantee that every current account or Feed view uses the same window—or that Instagram showed you literally every post from every followed account.
What the message means
Instagram introduced “You’re All Caught Up” to help people understand where they were in the Feed and whether they had missed recent photos or videos. In its July 2018 announcement, Instagram said the message appeared after people had seen posts from the previous two days. Instagram’s announcement described the goal as helping users know they “haven’t missed recent photos or videos.”

Read that two-day window as Instagram’s description when the feature launched, not as a current universal rule. The message is a status about recent Feed content, not a promise that every post from every account you follow appeared on your screen. In its 2018 reporting on the test, TechCrunch said Instagram did not specify whether the notice covered every post from followed accounts or only the posts its system selected to show.
Does it mean you’ve seen all your friends’ posts?
Not necessarily. The message indicates that Instagram considers you caught up on the recent followed-account posts it is presenting in that Feed context. The available explanation does not establish that it includes every post published by every followed account, nor does it say that the Feed is chronological.

Why can suggested posts appear after it?
“Caught up” does not have to mean the end of everything you can scroll through in Instagram. In an August 2020 announcement, Instagram described placing Suggested Posts after users had seen the most recent posts from accounts they followed. It said recommendations could include posts from similar accounts and posts similar to content the user had liked or saved. Those recommendations are not evidence that you follow the accounts shown. Instagram’s 2020 announcement described the rollout and its intended placement.
| Content you see | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Recent posts from followed accounts | The followed-account material the Feed presents before indicating you’re caught up. |
| Suggested posts | Additional recommendations, which may come from accounts you do not follow. |
Can you turn “All Caught Up” off?
The available documentation does not establish a current universal setting to disable the message, or a reliable menu path for every app version and account. If you are looking for a control, check the options in your current Instagram app; interface labels and availability may vary. The message itself is an informational marker, not proof that you need to change a setting.
