David Jones and Canva are among the organisations scheduled to discuss agentic AI at Workato’s World of Workato event in Sydney on 13–14 October 2026. The event preview points to conversations about orchestration, governance and connecting AI to business processes—not confirmed deployments or results from the speakers.

What the event preview establishes

Workato’s World of Workato is scheduled for 13–14 October 2026 at the Pyrmont Theatre at ICC Sydney. iTnews estimates around 600 customers, prospects and partners may attend; that is an estimate, not a final attendance count. The announced speakers include Rahul Anhal, Head of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure at David Jones, and Samantha Garrett, AI & Automation Platform Team Lead at Canva, alongside representatives from St John WA, AsureQuality, Burbank Group and Village Entertainment. iTnews’ event preview frames the discussion around agentic AI orchestration, enterprise governance and links between AI, business processes and data.

The preview does not detail specific agent deployments or outcomes from those speakers. It should therefore be read as an agenda for a future event, rather than a report that these organisations have already put production agents to work.

What Canva’s reported automation shows—and what it doesn’t

A separate Workato customer story published on 24 June 2026 describes Canva’s workflow-automation programme. It reports that 110 Canva employees, referred to as “Canvanauts,” were certified in Workato and that the company rolled out 56 automation recipes across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and hire-to-retire processes. Workato attributes the figures to Jessica Newton, Business Platform Lead at Canva. These are automation figures, not evidence that 56 agentic AI systems were deployed.

Workato says Canva’s workflows replaced more than 8,000 hours of manual work annually. It also reports that Canva processed more than 100 vendor assessments in one to two months, eliminating 75 hours of manual labour, and reduced expense reimbursement time from two weeks to two days. These are claims made in Workato’s customer story, not independently measured agentic-AI results. Workato also says Canva planned to apply its embedded AI capabilities to business process management; a stated plan does not establish that an AI agent was subsequently deployed.

Newton told Workato: “In less than two years, we’ve got 110 Canvanauts certified in Workato, and we were able to roll out 56 recipes across our order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and hire-to-retire journey.” Michael Denari, Canva’s Global Head of IT, described the approach as putting technology in employees’ hands “in a governed way” while accelerating the impact achievable with the IT team. Both statements appear in Workato’s Canva customer story.

David Jones’s AI super-agent remains an exploration in the available reporting

A previous iTnews report described a David Jones AI “super-agent” as an opportunity the retailer was exploring. That supports an exploratory status at the time of that report; it does not establish a production rollout. The World of Workato preview names a David Jones speaker but does not announce a newer deployment or provide results. The earlier iTnews report is the basis for the exploratory description.

What to look for in enterprise agentic AI discussions

The event themes raise practical questions for any organisation assessing AI agents. The important distinction is not simply whether a system uses AI, but whether it can operate within real workflows, connect to the right business data and applications, and remain governed in a way the organisation can monitor.

  • Integration: Which existing applications and data sources can the system access, and how are permissions managed?
  • Governance: What safeguards, approvals and oversight apply to actions the AI can take?
  • Process fit: Does the automation address a defined business process, or is it only a standalone demonstration?
  • Measurement: Are outcomes tracked in terms such as processing time, manual effort, error rates or service quality—and are those figures clearly attributed?

Those are evaluation questions, not claims about what any named speaker will announce. As of the event-preview date, later presentations, actual attendance and any new deployment results remain unknown.
