If you see a Buy with Prime button on a retailer’s website, it means that store participates in Amazon’s Buy with Prime program. You can use an Amazon account to check out, and Amazon may handle fulfillment and returns for the eligible order. The retailer—not Amazon—remains the seller. The option applies only to participating products and supported delivery addresses; check the item’s checkout details for the actual delivery estimate and return terms.
What Buy with Prime is—and what it is not
Buy with Prime is an optional Amazon-backed checkout and fulfillment service that a participating merchant adds to its own online store. It is not a shipping subscription you can apply to any purchase on another website, and seeing it on one product does not mean the retailer’s whole catalog is eligible.

Amazon provides parts of the purchase experience, such as checkout through Amazon Pay and, when the merchant uses Amazon fulfillment, picking, packing, and shipping. The merchant remains the retailer and seller. Amazon says Buy with Prime is an additional checkout choice rather than a replacement for the store’s existing checkout (Amazon’s merchant checkout information).

How a Buy with Prime order works
- Choose an eligible item. On the merchant’s website, look for the Buy with Prime button on the product page. Only participating items are included.
- Verify your Amazon account. The first time you use the service, you may need to verify the account. Amazon Pay checks Prime status and can use the address and payment method saved to your Amazon account.
- Review checkout details. You can change saved details or enter a different delivery address. The checkout checks inventory and calculates the delivery estimate for the order. Amazon says it checks stock when checkout begins and again when you select Place order; inventory is reserved for 10 minutes while payment confirmation is completed.
- Place the order and follow its status. Amazon’s consumer guide says the merchant receives your name, email address, delivery address, phone number, and the last four digits of the payment method to process the order. The merchant therefore does receive relevant contact and order information.
For orders fulfilled by Amazon, the merchant sends inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers, where Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order through Multi-Channel Fulfillment. Eligible inventory the merchant already holds in Fulfillment by Amazon may also be used for multi-channel sales (Amazon Buy with Prime overview).

What Prime benefits apply?
For U.S.-based Prime members, Amazon describes Buy with Prime as offering fast, free delivery, familiar checkout, and easy returns at participating online stores. The exact delivery promise is order-specific: it depends on the item, fulfillment capability, and address. Use the date or estimate shown at checkout rather than assuming every Buy with Prime order arrives in one or two days.
Address support is not universal. Amazon says unsupported addresses, including non-U.S. addresses where the service is unavailable, can trigger an error during checkout. Eligibility and delivery availability are determined for the specific item and address (Amazon’s shopper guide).

How returns work
Amazon handles returns for Buy with Prime orders through the Buy with Prime order flow. For eligible items, Amazon describes a QR-code drop-off option. Return eligibility and available methods can differ by order, so use the return details attached to that purchase rather than assuming every item has the same terms. Because Buy with Prime is an added option, you can compare it with the retailer’s regular checkout before ordering. For the same item, compare the delivery estimate to your address, the payment methods accepted, and the return eligibility and process. Also review the retailer’s price and policies: using Buy with Prime does not change who sells the product or guarantee the merchant’s overall quality.

Who can use Buy with Prime?
On the shopper side, the consumer offer described by Amazon is for U.S.-based Prime members, and the item and delivery address must be supported. On the merchant side, Amazon says the program is available to businesses with a U.S.-based entity authorized to do business. Its setup information lists an ecommerce site, a Professional Seller Central account, and an Amazon Pay account among the requirements; Amazon fulfillment is part of the setup when the merchant wants Amazon to fulfill orders (Amazon merchant information).
