Bluehost’s published U.S. prices reviewed on October 7, 2026, start at $3.99 per month for Starter, but that is an introductory rate—not the long-term cost. On a 36-month renewal term, Starter is listed at $9.99 per month; shorter renewal terms cost more. The $2.09-per-month figure in the original headline was not listed on the public U.S. pricing page reviewed, so treat it as an unverified promotion unless its region, term, upfront charge, and eligibility are confirmed.

Bluehost plans and listed prices

The following are Bluehost’s public U.S. prices accessed October 7, 2026. Introductory rates apply to the initial term; the renewal column shows the published price for a 36-month renewal. These are vendor-listed prices, and an individual account’s checkout or renewal notice may differ.

What Bluehost charges at renewal

Renewal price depends on the term you choose. Bluehost’s renewal price list gives the following monthly-equivalent rates for plans renewed monthly, annually, or every three years:

Plan Monthly renewal 12-month renewal 36-month renewal
Starter $15.99/month $11.99/month $9.99/month
Business $20.99/month $15.99/month $13.99/month
eCommerce Essentials $32.99/month $24.99/month $21.99/month

These are the rates published in Bluehost’s renewal price list in 2026, not a promise that every account will receive the same future rate. Read the renewal notice and account billing details before committing. A lower monthly-equivalent figure on a longer term means agreeing to a longer billing period; compare the total amount due, not just the per-month display.

Is Bluehost still $2.09 a month?

The $2.09/month figure was not corroborated by the public U.S. pricing page reviewed for this article. It may have been tied to an earlier campaign, a specific region or billing term, or a coupon; the available evidence does not establish which. Bluehost says promotions apply to the initial term and plans automatically renew at regular rates.

Before relying on any advertised price, verify the country and currency, eligible plan, initial commitment, total upfront charge, renewal term and rate, and any coupon or customer eligibility conditions in the live offer. The current public U.S. page reviewed lists Starter at $3.99/month rather than $2.09/month.

How to decide which plan fits

For one basic website

Starter is positioned as a one-site entry plan. It is the most direct fit to consider if you are launching a single WordPress or small-business site and do not need the commerce-oriented tier. Compare the renewal rate and upfront term with your budget before buying.

For a higher hosting tier

Business costs more than Starter at both the listed introductory and 36-month renewal rates. Do not assume a feature is included just because it appears in general plan marketing: check the current checkout offer for site limits, storage, backups, security tools, and any paid extras you actually need.

For an online store

eCommerce Essentials is the explicitly commerce-oriented plan in the listed lineup. Its higher price does not mean every store needs every available add-on. Confirm which store functions are included in the particular offer and which would add charges before choosing it.

Domains, backups, uptime, and refunds

Domain offer

Bluehost says qualifying 12- or 36-month hosting plans include a free domain for the first year, subject to redemption conditions and eligible top-level domains. The domain renews at the then-current account rate after that year. Include that later domain cost in your budget rather than treating the first-year inclusion as permanent.

Backups and other tools

Bluehost advertises weekly backups and site-management and security tools. A 2026 WPBeginner review describes differences among plans and notes optional add-ons. Because feature bundles can vary and change, use the checkout summary for the exact plan you are purchasing rather than assuming every advertised tool is included.

Uptime statement

Bluehost’s pricing page states a 99.99% shared-hosting uptime SLA and describes a limited credit-claim process. That is the provider’s contractual statement, not an independent measurement of actual uptime. The sources cited here do not establish a current, independently comparable performance test for Bluehost.

Cancellation and hosting refund

Bluehost says hosting charges can qualify for a refund when you cancel within 30 days. Domain and most add-on charges are excluded; keeping a free domain may trigger a non-refundable domain fee. Bluehost says hosting cancellations after the 30-day window are not refunded. Check the full terms at Bluehost pricing before purchase, especially if you plan to retain a domain.

What to check before you buy or renew

  • Confirm the plan, initial term, total charge due today, and renewal price and term shown at checkout.
  • Check whether your site needs one-site hosting or the features of a higher tier or store-oriented plan.
  • Verify which backups, security tools, and other features are included versus offered as paid extras.
  • For a bundled domain, check eligibility and the domain’s renewal rate; for a possible refund, review the 30-day conditions and excluded charges.
  • For an existing account, use the account’s renewal notice and billing screen as the final reference rather than assuming the public list will match.
