An account ban, by contrast, applies to the sanctioned account. Riot warns that trying another account on a hardware-banned device can lead to that account being restricted on the device and receiving an additional, time-based ban.
Hardware ban vs. account ban
Riot’s HWID-ban guidance describes a restriction tied to a computer’s physical components and access to Riot products. Riot’s Community Pact defines a permanent account suspension as permanently preventing play on that one account. It describes an HWID ban as blocking the device, so new accounts cannot log in from that hardware.

Can another account play on a hardware-banned PC?
Riot advises against logging into any account on a computer suspected of having an HWID ban. Its guidance says the system may treat another account’s use on that device as an attempt to circumvent the original sanction. The account may be restricted from Riot products on that computer and can receive a ban for a set period. Riot does not state a universal duration in the cited HWID guidance, so check the notice or ask Player Support about your case.
Does reinstalling VALORANT remove an HWID ban?
No. Riot explicitly says: “Reinstalling a game or deleting the responsible account won’t remove an HWID ban.” The restriction is device-level, so reinstalling the game is not an appeal or a way to clear it.

What can lead to an HWID ban?
Riot says HWID bans generally follow patterns including extreme chat aggression or intentional feeding across many permanently banned accounts, a verifiable threat of harm against players or Rioters, or detection of third-party scripting or cheating tools. Riot separately says unauthorized hardware or software that provides an unfair advantage—such as auto-clickers or aimbots—can result in a permanent account ban. These policies do not mean that every account ban also includes a hardware ban.
How to request a review
If you believe an HWID ban was applied incorrectly, Riot says you can submit a Player Support request for re-evaluation. Riot investigates and decides whether to lift or extend the restriction; a reversal is possible, not guaranteed. If Riot lifts the HWID ban, accounts that were already banned remain banned until the HWID-ban period ends.

What VAN 152 means—and what it does not prove
Riot associates an active HWID ban with error code VAN 152. That association is not proof that every Vanguard error or device restriction is an HWID ban. For a case-specific explanation, rely on the ban notice or contact Player Support.
