The westbound ramps at the Southwest Mixmaster, 60th Street (Exit 122) and Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121) are included.
When and where will westbound I-80 close?
The scheduled closure is westbound only, on the stretch between the Southwest Mixmaster and Grand Prairie Parkway (Exit 118), in the West Des Moines–Waukee area. Iowa DOT’s announced hours are 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for five consecutive nights, starting Sunday night, Oct. 4, and ending Friday morning, Oct. 9, 2026. That means the overnight windows are Sunday through Thursday nights; there is no announced Friday-night closure in this schedule. The work is weather permitting, so these dates are a schedule, not confirmation of live conditions.

- Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121)
Iowa DOT says crews will perform grading and concrete pavement work. The department has not provided an estimated detour distance or added travel time.
What is the announced I-80 detour?
The marked detour uses University Avenue and Grand Prairie Parkway, returning drivers to westbound I-80 at Exit 118. Follow the posted detour signs; Iowa DOT has not specified another route in its notice.

A separate Iowa DOT notice announced that the westbound I-80 entrance ramp at 60th Street would be closed from July 6 through Nov. 26, 2026, weather permitting. That notice routes traffic north on 60th Street, west on University Avenue, then south on Grand Prairie Parkway to westbound I-80 at Exit 118. Because the ramp restriction may overlap with the overnight closure, check its current status before traveling.
How to check whether the closure is in effect
Weather and construction conditions can change the schedule. Before setting out, check Iowa DOT’s 511 Iowa traveler-information service at 511ia.org, call 511 within Iowa, or call 800-288-1047 from outside the state. Iowa DOT also offers a free 511 Iowa app. The department’s Sept. 28 notice says, “Drivers in the area should expect delays.”

Work-zone safety
Iowa DOT advises drivers to obey posted work-zone speed limits and signs, stay alert, leave space between vehicles and wear seat belts. The department’s notice says moving-violation fines in work zones are at least double.
