Squarespace is the stronger candidate if you want a wider design toolkit and integrated business features; Weebly is worth considering if a free entry tier, a lower displayed starting price, or its described online-store basics matter more. Neither choice is automatically better for every site. Compare the current plan details against the features you actually need, and treat vendor feature descriptions as claims—not independent head-to-head test results.
How Weebly and Squarespace differ
Both are hosted website builders: they combine site creation with hosting and offer tools for selling online. The clearest distinction in the available product descriptions is emphasis. Squarespace promotes professionally designed templates, visual editing and Blueprint AI, alongside a broader set of business workflows. Weebly’s pages emphasize straightforward site and store capabilities, with a free tier and paid plans.

What do the plans cost?
On the Weebly pricing page retrieved for this comparison, the listed tiers are Free, Personal, Professional and Performance. The page displayed Personal at $13 per month, Professional at $15 per month and Performance at $32 per month on annual billing, with higher month-to-month prices. Squarespace’s comparison page says its plans start at $19 per month; its current plan names are Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced. These are vendor-page snapshots, not guaranteed quotes. Prices and inclusions can vary by billing term and country, and taxes may apply, so confirm the checkout total and plan features before subscribing.

Design and editing: what each company describes
Squarespace
Squarespace describes professionally designed templates, visual drag-and-drop editing and Blueprint AI. If visual presentation and a broader design starting point are high priorities, explore the templates and editor yourself before committing; the company’s description is not a neutral usability comparison.
Weebly
Squarespace’s comparison characterizes Weebly as having a more limited theme selection and a drag-and-drop editor. That characterization is Squarespace’s, not an independent measurement. Check the available themes and editing controls against the look and layout you need.

Which one supports your kind of selling?
Weebly store capabilities
Weebly describes tools for inventory tracking, physical and digital products, checkout, payments, shipping settings, order handling and store management. Its pricing grid also assigns features to plan tiers, so verify that the tier you are considering includes your required store functions.
Squarespace selling workflows
Squarespace describes selling products and services, bookings, subscriptions, in-person point-of-sale and multichannel selling. Its Help Center outlines selling by plan, so check the current details for your intended workflow rather than assuming every feature is included at every tier.

Hosting, SSL and the site essentials
Squarespace says its platform includes hosting, SSL security, SEO, analytics and ecommerce. Weebly’s plan grid lists SSL and site features by tier, and its ecommerce page describes hosted store capabilities. Review the current plan grid for each provider to confirm which essentials are included in the subscription you would buy.

Can you move a Weebly domain to Squarespace?
Squarespace says you can transfer a domain from Weebly or another third-party domain provider. That is a domain-transfer option, not a guarantee that the rest of a site will migrate automatically. The comparison page does not promise automatic transfer of all pages, product data, design or URLs.
Before switching, make an inventory of your pages, products, images, domain settings and important URLs. Confirm the steps required for each item, and plan how to preserve or redirect URLs that people already use. Source: Squarespace’s Weebly comparison.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesA practical way to decide
- List must-haves. Write down the design features, store workflows, site basics and integrations you cannot do without.
- Match them to plan tiers. Use each provider’s current pricing and feature pages; do not compare a feature on one platform with a plan that excludes its equivalent on the other.
- Calculate the real subscription cost. Check billing frequency, location, taxes and any required higher-tier features at checkout.
- Test the experience that matters. Try creating a representative page or product listing so you can judge whether the available design and editing controls suit your needs.
- If moving, map the migration. Treat domain transfer separately from rebuilding or transferring site content, product information and URLs.
Recommendation
Choose Squarespace if its design options and integrated business tools match your needs and its current plan cost works for you. Consider Weebly if its free entry tier, lower displayed starting price or described store basics are a better match. In either case, let the current plan details and your must-have workflows decide—not a blanket claim that one builder is best for everyone.
