This guide groups live sites across industries and highlights visible choices in purpose, navigation, content, design, useful interactions, and trust cues. Treat the examples as inspiration to adapt, not templates to copy.
How these website examples were selected
The examples below draw on the Web Marketing Association’s 2026 WebAwards announcement and its named category winners. The association says entries were judged on design, copywriting, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology. Its president, William Rice, described the entries as “truly remarkable” in the 2026 winners announcement. Awards are a useful way to find sites worth examining; they are not a representative survey of every website in an industry or proof of better business results.

The association lists 86 industry categories for its 2026 competition. Its category list spans fields including education, financial services, healthcare, hotel and lodging, nonprofit, real estate, restaurant, retail, SaaS, travel, transportation, and university. Categories can overlap, and the association notes that sites may be entered in more than one category. A bank with community programs, for example, may serve more than one audience or fit more than one category.
The selected examples are official winners named in that announcement. Inspect each site directly: design and content can change, and an award does not establish that a particular feature improves conversion, accessibility, or performance.

Education and university website examples
University of Portland — education
University of Portland was named Best Education Website in the Web Marketing Association’s 2026 WebAwards. When reviewing its live site, consider how it presents the university to prospective students, current students, alumni, and other visitors with different needs. Look for how its main navigation separates audiences and tasks, how program and campus information is organized, and whether a visitor can readily find an appropriate next step, such as exploring academic options or requesting information. Note which contact and institutional details are visible rather than assuming that a polished presentation alone establishes trust.
Banking and financial services website examples
Great Southern Bank – Community Matters — banking
Great Southern Bank – Community Matters received the 2026 WebAward for Best Bank Website. Its community-focused framing gives readers a useful prompt: does the page explain what the initiative is and whom it serves before asking visitors to act? Inspect how the page connects its message to the bank’s broader services, where it places calls to action, and how a visitor can find relevant details or contact information. The distinction between an editorial or community initiative and a bank’s transactional services is worth noticing as you assess its content hierarchy.
Travel and transportation website examples
Prague Airport — travel and transportation
Prague Airport was named both Best Transportation Website and Best Travel Website in the 2026 WebAwards. Those overlapping awards illustrate why a site need not fit neatly into a single industry: an airport serves travelers, airlines, and people navigating transportation. On the live site, examine whether time-sensitive visitor tasks—such as checking flight information, planning a trip to or from the airport, or finding passenger services—are easy to locate. Note how the site separates practical travel information from broader destination or airport content, and how it helps visitors move from an overview to the detail they need.
A consistent checklist for comparing sites
These questions help make comparisons across industries more useful. They also reflect criteria used by the Web Marketing Association, Kentico, and the Webby Awards, whose published frameworks include aspects of design, content, navigation, functionality, interactivity, and the overall experience.
Rank #3
- Audience and purpose: Can you tell who the organization serves and what visitors can do here?
- Navigation and structure: Are the important destinations easy to find, and is the information organized around likely visitor tasks?
- Content: Is the information specific and useful for the intended audience?
- Design and experience: Do the visual choices support the site’s purpose and remain understandable as you move through it?
- Functionality and interactivity: Can a visitor complete a relevant task, such as learning, finding a service, booking, or exploring an offering?
- Trust cues: Are relevant credentials, contact details, policies, or other signals visible? Describe what is present; do not infer organizational trustworthiness from appearance alone.
How to use website examples for your own project
- Start with visitor tasks. List the questions your audience arrives with and the actions your site should make possible.
- Look for patterns, not page designs to copy. Note how an example prioritizes information, labels navigation, or guides a visitor to a relevant next step. Adapt the pattern to your own audience and content.
- Check the whole journey. Follow a likely task from the home page through the relevant page or interaction. A strong landing page is only useful if visitors can find the supporting detail and finish what they came to do.
- Verify practical requirements. Before choosing a visual direction, make sure your content, navigation, contact information, and key functions fit your organization and its visitors.
For broader browsing, Colorlib reported that its editorial gallery contained 238 collections across 18 industries and more than 5,400 sites on October 6, 2026. Those figures describe that publisher’s curated collection, not all websites or an independent quality ranking. Its gallery can be a starting point for finding more examples and related templates or WordPress themes; evaluate any resource against your own requirements.
