#1 Best Overall
- Easily find your already purchased or rented titles in the Library tab. Browse by recently added, genres, and more.
- Watch new exclusive Apple Originals every month on Apple TV, like The Morning Show, See, Dickinson, For All Mankind, The Elephant Queen, Helpsters, Ghostwriter, Servant, and more.
- Access channels that you’ve subscribed to and share them with your family. Channels play in the Apple TV app ad-free, online or off with no additional apps, accounts, or passwords needed.
- Browse new release movies or explore the catalog of over 100,000 movies and shows, including the largest catalog of 4K HDR movies.
- Watch Now also includes Up Next, which helps you quickly find and watch your favorites, plus resume what you’re watching from the moment you left off, across all your devices.
Before you start: prerequisites and best setup
- Stable internet: A reliable Wi‑Fi or wired connection matters more than raw speed. If possible, avoid cellular hotspots.
- Updated software: Keep your OS and browser current (for Apple devices, updating iOS/iPadOS/macOS is usually enough).
- Browser readiness (web): Enable JavaScript and allow media playback.
- Headphones or speakers: Some viewers forget to check volume on the device and on the output (AirPods, TV, receiver).
If you’re on a Mac or Windows PC, consider doing a quick test 10–15 minutes before the stream starts so you can switch early.

Apple TV app / Apple TV hardware
If you’re watching on a TV, the Apple ecosystem is usually the smoothest. Use the TV app or the device browser if needed.
- On Apple TV, open TV (Apple TV app) or the built-in web browser depending on availability.
- Look for WWDC or live Apple events.
- Select the WWDC keynote live stream.
- If it doesn’t appear immediately, check the WWDC hub on your Apple TV browser and reload near start time.
iPhone and iPad (Safari and TV app)
Mobile devices are great for watching, but you’ll want to keep the screen awake and avoid background interruptions.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Safari (or the YouTube app if you’re using the backup).
- Go to the WWDC keynote stream from
developer.apple.comor open the official YouTube Live video. - Tap Play and confirm audio output (AirPods, HomePod, or device speaker).
- Keep the device on Wi‑Fi and don’t lock the screen if you notice it affecting playback.
Mac (Safari and web playback)
On macOS, Safari tends to be the most reliable for Apple-hosted players, but Chrome/Firefox can work too.
- Open Safari on your Mac.
- Visit the WWDC keynote page on
developer.apple.com. - Select the live stream and click Play.
- If it fails, open the YouTube live stream as your backup.
Windows and other devices (web + YouTube)
If you’re using a non-Apple device, the safest bet is usually YouTube, with the WWDC web page as an alternate.

How to pick the correct live time in your time zone
WWDC keynotes are scheduled in a specific reference time (commonly PT). Your local clock matters more than the date you see first on social posts.
Use one of these methods to avoid missing the start:
- Use the WWDC schedule on the Apple Developer site and confirm it shows your local time if that feature is available.
- Manually convert: If the keynote is listed as, for example, 10:00 AM PT, convert to your zone using a reliable time zone tool (or your calendar app’s time zone conversion).
- Create a calendar reminder: Add an event for 15 minutes before start. If Apple provides an .ics link on the schedule page, use it.
Don’t forget daylight saving time rules—those are the source of many “it started already” surprises.

- Prefer wired or 5 GHz Wi‑Fi: If you’re on a laptop, 5 GHz often stabilizes playback.
- Set playback quality when available: On YouTube, try “Auto” first; if buffering persists, cap it to a lower setting.
- Close bandwidth-heavy apps: Pause large downloads and disable cloud backups temporarily.
- Check output devices: If you use AirPods, verify they’re connected before you press Play.
Troubleshooting when the stream won’t play
When things break, speed matters. Start with the simplest fixes that address player and network issues.
Stream loads but stays stuck on buffering
- Refresh the page or restart the YouTube stream (don’t keep tapping play repeatedly—give it 30–60 seconds after refresh).
- Lower video quality (YouTube: Quality menu → choose a lower tier).
- Switch networks: Wi‑Fi to Ethernet (or vice versa), or turn off VPN/proxy.
- Restart the device’s network connection: toggle airplane mode on and off (mobile), or reboot the router (if multiple devices fail).
- Try a different device on the same network to isolate whether the issue is network vs. device.
You see a black screen or silent audio
- Check system audio output (macOS/iOS sound picker, TV audio source, AirPods connection).
- Reload the player tab and re-press Play.
- On web browsers, make sure “autoplay” wasn’t blocked. Click the page once and press Play again.
- Try the backup channel (often the same stream on YouTube behaves differently on a given browser).
The player says the video isn’t available
- Confirm you’re opening the correct WWDC keynote live entry (not a re-upload page or a different year).
- Clear site data for the affected domain (or use an incognito/private window).
- Disable ad blockers or content filters temporarily and retry.
- Try another browser (Safari ↔ Chrome ↔ Firefox) or another platform (web ↔ YouTube app).
It works on one device but not another
- Compare software versions: update iOS/iPadOS/macOS and browser version.
- Check permissions: camera/microphone prompts can sometimes interfere with autoplay flows—ignore prompts and reload.
- Reset playback: close and reopen the app, or force quit the browser, then try again.
- If it fails only on one network, it’s likely a routing/firewall issue—switch networks or turn off VPN/proxy.
Common mistakes that ruin the experience
- Waiting until the exact moment to test: Aim for 10–15 minutes early.
- Relying on a single platform: Use a primary + backup method. If Apple Developer site playback fails, YouTube is your safety net.
- Ignoring device sleep: On iPhone/iPad, prevent screen lock if you notice playback pausing.
- Volume mismatches: AirPods and TV audio switches happen silently until you check output.
- Over-aggressive browser extensions: Ad blockers and privacy scripts can break embedded players.
After the keynote: how to catch up
If you miss the live moment (or want to review demos), you can still watch the keynote afterward using official replays.
Look for “watch again” or replay entries on the WWDC hub, and verify you’re on the official channel/video listing. If you’re using YouTube as your primary method, the replay typically appears as soon as Apple finishes processing the stream.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Apple ID to watch the WWDC keynote?
Most viewers can watch the live stream without signing in. If you do see a sign-in prompt, use your Apple ID to proceed, but try a different official source (like YouTube) if access appears restricted.

Will I be able to watch on iPhone without mirroring?
Yes. You can watch directly in Safari (web) or the YouTube app. For TV viewing, you can also AirPlay, but direct playback is usually simpler.
What should I do if the stream is late or not showing at the scheduled time?
First, refresh and verify you’re on the correct live entry. Then switch to the backup method (usually YouTube). If both fail, check your network and turn off VPN/proxy.
Can I watch on a smart TV?
Often yes, especially via the YouTube app or any Apple TV event listing available through the TV interface. If the WWDC website player isn’t supported on the TV browser, YouTube is the most reliable alternative.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →How can I improve quality if the stream keeps buffering?
Lower the playback quality and switch networks if possible. 5 GHz Wi‑Fi or wired Ethernet usually stabilizes playback immediately.
Bottom Line
Pick a primary official stream method—typically the WWDC page on Apple Developer or YouTube—and set a backup in advance. That single habit prevents most “I missed it” problems.
If playback fails, don’t panic: reduce quality, refresh, check output devices, and switch platforms. By the time the keynote starts, you’ll be watching instead of troubleshooting.
