“Warcraft” can mean the classic real-time strategy games, World of Warcraft (WoW), or an upcoming release. The right purchase depends on which one you mean: Blizzard sells its remastered RTS bundle and Warcraft III: Reforged through Battle.net, while the older Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition rereleases are on GOG. WoW is a separate subscription-based game with a limited level-20 free trial for Modern WoW. As of October 4, 2026, World of Warcraft: Forever is announced for November 4, not yet released.
Which Warcraft game are you looking for?
Warcraft is a franchise, not one game with a single edition or storefront. Before buying, decide whether you want an older or remastered strategy game, the newer Warcraft III, or the ongoing WoW MMO. Their platforms, multiplayer options, and access requirements differ.

- Classic strategy games: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition are legacy rereleases on GOG. Remastered editions of Warcraft I and Warcraft II are included in Blizzard’s Warcraft Battle Chest and are also listed for PC Game Pass.
- Warcraft III: Warcraft III: Reforged is available digitally through Blizzard’s Battle.net Shop and is also listed for PC Game Pass. Blizzard says buying Reforged on Battle.net includes digital downloads of the original Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne.
- World of Warcraft: This is the ongoing MMO, with Modern WoW and several Classic modes. Its access rules depend on the mode and your account entitlements.
Where can you buy or access the Warcraft games?
| Game or offer | Storefront or access route | Platform and important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Warcraft I: Remastered and Warcraft II: Remastered | Blizzard’s Warcraft Battle Chest; PC Game Pass also lists both titles | PC titles. Confirm the current regional listing and whether you want the bundle or Game Pass access. |
| Warcraft: Orcs & Humans rerelease | GOG | Blizzard says it supports Windows and Mac. Check GOG’s current listing for OS requirements. |
| Warcraft II Battle.net Edition rerelease | GOG | Blizzard says the rerelease is for Windows and includes classic and GOG-enhanced versions with different multiplayer compatibility. |
| Warcraft III: Reforged | Battle.net Shop; PC Game Pass also lists it | PC release. Verify which edition or access offer is currently available in your region. |
| Warcraft III: Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom | Battle.net as a campaign, in a combo with Reforged, and in the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection | Requires Warcraft III: Reforged. Blizzard says its Battle.net products require a Battle.net account, desktop app, and internet connection. |
| World of Warcraft modes | Battle.net desktop app | Each version is installed separately. Modern WoW has a limited free trial; Classic modes generally require subscription or Game Time. |
| World of Warcraft: Forever | Blizzard announcement and Battle.net access | Announced for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST; requires WoW Subscription or Game Time. |
Blizzard’s announcement says the PC Game Pass discount on standalone Warcraft titles is 20% for qualifying PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who link their Xbox and Battle.net accounts. It began June 26 and is subject to change, so check the live offer and regional terms rather than assuming the discount is still available.
What comes in the Warcraft Battle Chest?
Blizzard describes the Warcraft Battle Chest as a bundle of Warcraft I: Remastered, Warcraft II: Remastered, and Warcraft III: Reforged. It is a way to buy those three games together, rather than a WoW subscription or an edition of the MMO. Blizzard says qualifying existing Battle.net owners may receive a bundle discount; eligibility and the current offer should be checked in the shop.

Compare the Battle Chest with buying or accessing a single game separately. PC Game Pass lists the same three titles, but Game Pass access is not the same thing as owning a Battle.net bundle. Check which storefront, account, region, and terms apply to the option you choose.
What should you know about the GOG Warcraft releases?
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans
Blizzard says the GOG rerelease supports Windows and Mac, and is sold or downloaded through GOG rather than Blizzard’s Battle.net desktop app. Check the current GOG listing for compatible operating systems and other requirements before purchase.

- A pre paid, 60 day subscription to world of warcraft

Warcraft II Battle.net Edition
The GOG purchase includes a classic version and a GOG-enhanced version. Their multiplayer support is not interchangeable: the classic version has classic Battle.net matchmaking, while the enhanced version supports LAN and peer-to-peer multiplayer and cannot connect to classic Battle.net. GOG Galaxy is optional, according to Blizzard. Choose based on the version and multiplayer experience you actually want, not just the shared game title.

It depends on the WoW mode. Blizzard’s current mode and installation guidance says Modern WoW can be downloaded and played free up to level 20. WoW Classic versions or select modes require Game Time or an active subscription; Blizzard says modes generally require a subscription unless otherwise noted. The War Within is included with a subscription as of January 20, 2026, while access to Midnight content requires purchasing Midnight. Check Blizzard’s live regional mode and entitlement information before paying, because modes and included content can change.

- Warcraft III Battle Chest
Blizzard says all WoW versions and modes are installed through the Battle.net desktop app, and each version must be installed separately. The free trial applies to Modern WoW’s level-20 limit; it does not mean every WoW mode or expansion is free.

No. Blizzard has announced World of Warcraft: Forever for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. On October 4, 2026, that date is still in the future. Blizzard says access will be included for players with WoW Subscription or Game Time, and that optional upgrade packs add benefits. Confirm the live product page for launch status and the contents of any pack.

Blizzard also says Warcraft III: Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom is available on Battle.net as a campaign, in a combo with Reforged, and in the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. The collection is stated to be available through January 11, 2027; it requires Reforged. Check the current listing for availability and whether buying a combo makes sense if you already own the base game.
The World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition is a separate physical product. Blizzard says it is sold through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last. The reviewed listing information does not establish Amazon stock, price, or availability, so confirm an exact listing before treating Amazon as a purchase option.

How to avoid buying the wrong edition
- Name the exact product. Distinguish a remaster from a legacy rerelease, Warcraft III: Reforged from its add-on, and WoW from the RTS games.
- Use the storefront named for that product. Blizzard identifies Battle.net for its digital Warcraft products and GOG for the older Warcraft I and Warcraft II rereleases. This helps you verify what is included, but does not establish that every other seller is authorized.
- Check edition contents and multiplayer compatibility. In particular, the two GOG versions of Warcraft II do not share the same online matchmaking.
- Confirm platform, region, and account requirements. Look at the current listing for OS and system requirements, regional availability, required accounts or apps, and any internet requirement.
- Read the checkout terms. Verify price, refund terms, included content, and any recurring WoW subscription or Game Time requirement before placing the order.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
