If your Vodafone router says “Super Wi-Fi is running your Wi-Fi settings” and its WebUI controls are greyed out, first check the Vodafone Broadband app and identify your exact hub and service. Vodafone directs customers to the app for general router management, but documents WebUI controls for particular settings and hubs. Its public help does not establish a universal way to switch off Super WiFi management, so a reset or wired connection is not a reliable fix; ask Vodafone to check your account and equipment if the controls you need remain unavailable.
Why are my Vodafone router Wi-Fi settings greyed out?
Vodafone’s general router-settings guidance directs customers to the Vodafone Broadband app and says to follow the app’s instructions to connect it to the router. Vodafone also publishes portal instructions for particular settings and hub models, so the available controls depend on the broadband service, hardware and setting. A notice that Super Wi-Fi is running Wi-Fi settings is familiar wording from user reports, not a diagnosis Vodafone explains in its published help.

Vodafone UK’s help page says, “The Vodafone broadband app lets you manage your router settings from your mobile or tablet.” Start with that app, then use the hub-specific portal route if Vodafone documents one for the setting you want. The support index separately lists app and portal guidance for selected settings: Vodafone broadband and landline help.

How do I change Vodafone router settings without the app?
For supported tasks such as changing the Wi-Fi name or password, Vodafone documents access through a browser portal. Connect a computer or other device to the router by Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then enter the address for your service and hub. A cable can provide a connection to the portal, but it does not unlock a control that Super WiFi manages.
- Identify the hub and service. Check whether you have fibre or part-fibre, a 5G Indoor Hub, or a 5G Outdoor Hub with a Power Hub. Hub generations can have different menus.
- Connect to the router. Use Wi-Fi or a cable, as described in Vodafone’s Wi-Fi name and password instructions.
- Open the appropriate portal. Vodafone documents
192.168.1.1for fibre and the Power Hub/Outdoor Hub, and192.168.0.1for the 5G Indoor Hub. - Use the hub-specific menu. Follow Vodafone’s instructions for the setting you need; do not assume a menu shown for one hub exists on another.
If the portal opens but the control is unavailable, check the app’s Wi-Fi or Super WiFi area. If neither the app nor a documented hub-specific route offers the setting, contact Vodafone support with your hub model and broadband type. Vodafone’s public help does not describe a universal WebUI switch to remove the Super Wi-Fi management notice.

How do I split 2.4GHz and 5GHz on a Vodafone router?
Vodafone calls its option for devices that struggle to find or join Wi-Fi “WiFi Compatibility mode.” It creates another network using the same Wi-Fi password, which can help some older or smart-home devices. The exact path differs by service and hub:
| Service or equipment | Vodafone-documented route | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Part-fibre or full-fibre | Use the Broadband app or portal at 192.168.1.1. On named supported hub families, the portal path is WiFi > WiFi Compatibility mode. |
Confirm the hub generation and menu labels before changing settings. |
| 5G Broadband Indoor Hub | Open 192.168.0.1; under WiFi Basic Settings, turn off “5GHz Prefer.” |
Vodafone says the device must connect to the hub over Wi-Fi for these steps. |
| 5G Broadband Outdoor Hub | Use the associated Power Hub’s portal at 192.168.1.1, then WiFi > WiFi Compatibility mode. |
The Wi-Fi controls are on the Power Hub, not the outdoor unit. |
These are Vodafone’s documented compatibility controls, not proof that every hub offers a manual band-splitting switch. The named hub families and instructions are in Vodafone’s WiFi Compatibility Mode guide.

What to expect when changing compatibility settings
Changing the mode can briefly disconnect devices, and devices may receive a new IP address. If you turn compatibility mode off, equipment relying on the separate network may go offline and need reconnecting. Vodafone suggests trying Guest Wi-Fi for some smart doorbells that still will not connect.
Can a factory reset unlock the router settings?
Do not factory-reset as a first attempt to regain a greyed-out setting. Vodafone’s password-reset guidance explains that resetting a forgotten router admin password by factory-resetting can also erase router settings, including the Wi-Fi name and password. You may then need to set up the network and reconnect your devices. Use Vodafone’s router password reset guidance only when you genuinely need to recover access, and follow the instructions for your equipment.

Can I use my own router with Vodafone broadband?
Only some Vodafone broadband plans support a third-party router. Vodafone says it must be Openreach-approved and that you need broadband credentials. Pro Broadband, 5G Broadband and plans with Digital Voice require a Vodafone router. Check your plan and equipment requirements with Vodafone before buying or connecting a replacement; a third-party router is not a universal way around Super WiFi controls. See Vodafone’s own-router requirements.

What to do if Super WiFi still controls the setting
- Note the exact hub name or model and whether your service is fibre, 5G Indoor or 5G Outdoor.
- Open the Vodafone Broadband app and check the Wi-Fi or Super WiFi controls available to your account.
- For a device that cannot join Wi-Fi, try the compatibility procedure Vodafone documents for your specific hub, allowing time for devices to reconnect.
- For an SSID or password change, use the app or the relevant portal instructions rather than assuming all settings appear in the WebUI.
- If the setting remains unavailable, ask Vodafone support whether Super WiFi manages it on your account and equipment. Public help pages do not establish a general removal switch.
