To screen mirror or cast to a VIZIO Smart TV, use AirPlay from a compatible Apple device or Chromecast built-in from a supported app or device—provided your exact TV model supports that feature. For Chromecast app casting, connect the TV and phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network, open a Chromecast-enabled app, and tap its Cast button. AirPlay can mirror an Apple device’s screen on supported TVs. VIZIO’s feature availability and menus vary by model, so check your TV’s manual before troubleshooting or buying an adapter.
Choose the right method for your device and content
“Screen mirroring” can mean showing the whole device screen on the TV, or sending video from one app to the TV. The method depends on both what you want to display and what your VIZIO model supports.

Check your VIZIO TV’s model and open its platform
Do not assume every VIZIO Smart TV offers the same features or uses the same menu names. Find the TV’s model number and consult its documentation to verify AirPlay or Chromecast support. Cast from a Chromecast-enabled app
- Connect the VIZIO TV and your phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open an app that supports Chromecast on the phone or tablet.
- Tap the app’s Cast button and select the VIZIO TV if it appears.
- Choose the content to play in the app. To stop, use the app’s casting controls.

Mirror or play content with Apple AirPlay
- Confirm that your exact VIZIO TV model supports AirPlay.
- Open the AirPlay controls on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Select the VIZIO TV, then start screen mirroring or choose the content you want to play, as appropriate for your device.
VIZIO announced AirPlay 2 for SmartCast TVs in January 2019 and said users could play content from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and mirror web pages and presentations. Treat that as a historical rollout announcement, not proof that every VIZIO TV currently supports AirPlay. Check the manual and instructions for your model. Troubleshoot when the TV does not appear
- Check model support first. AirPlay and Chromecast availability varies; confirm the feature in documentation for the TV’s model.
- For Chromecast app casting, check Wi-Fi. The phone or tablet and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Confirm you are using the right kind of sharing. A Cast button in a supported app casts that app’s content; it is not a guarantee of full-device mirroring.
- Check the TV’s platform and software. Open the platform with Home or, on the platform described in VIZIO’s manual, select SmartCast from Inputs. Consult the model-specific instructions for current menus and software steps.
- Consider a wired connection only after checking compatibility. The source device needs video output support, and the TV needs a free HDMI input. A VIZIO specification for model V4K65M-0804 lists three HDMI inputs, but that specification does not establish what another model has or whether a particular phone and adapter will work.
