More importantly, the Y77 name covered two substantially different phones: the China-market vivo Y77 and the international vivo Y77 5G. The Chinese model launched with a 120Hz display and 80W charging; the international version was reported with a 60Hz screen and 18W charging.
What the July 2022 leak claimed
Before the reported July 7, 2022 launch, coverage published design renders and an expected starting price of about CNY 1,299 for a Y77 5G configuration. The reports also pointed to a 50MP main camera, a high-refresh-rate display, a 4,500mAh battery and 80W charging. These were pre-launch claims, not a final specification sheet. Gadgets 360’s July 2022 leak coverage reported the renders, expected timing and price.
Some reports about the Y77 series also tipped a Dimensity 8100 processor. That claim did not match the standard Chinese vivo Y77 that launched: it used a Dimensity 930. The Dimensity 8100 should therefore be treated as an unconfirmed pre-launch report, not the confirmed chipset of the standard Y77. Gadgets 360’s report on the earlier Y77-series leak discussed the Dimensity 8100 claim.
What launched in China
The Chinese vivo Y77 arrived in July 2022 with a MediaTek Dimensity 930, a 120Hz FHD+ display reported at about 6.64–6.67 inches, a 4,500mAh battery and 80W dual-cell fast charging. Its rear cameras were a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor; the front camera was 8MP. Reported configurations went up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. ITHome’s Chinese launch report covered the final core specifications, while FoneArena’s launch summary listed the camera and memory configurations.

These are launch prices reported for the China market, not current prices or a direct guide to what the phone costs elsewhere. FoneArena’s pricing report lists the configurations; ITHome also reported a CNY 1,499 starting price.
The earlier CNY 1,299 figure was an expected price in pre-launch coverage, not the definitive reported starting price for the Chinese launch. The difference may reflect the stage of reporting, a different configuration or a market assumption; the available reports do not establish which explanation applies.

The international vivo Y77 5G was a different configuration
International listings using the name vivo Y77 5G refer to a materially different specification set from the Chinese Y77. The reported international version used a Dimensity 810, a 6.58-inch LCD with 2408 × 1080 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery and 18W charging. It had 50MP and 2MP rear cameras, a 16MP front camera and reported microSD support up to 1TB. ITHome’s comparison of the regional phones identifies these differences.
| Feature | China-market vivo Y77 | International vivo Y77 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Chipset | MediaTek Dimensity 930 | MediaTek Dimensity 810 |
| Display | About 6.64–6.67 inches, FHD+, 120Hz | 6.58-inch LCD, 2408 × 1080, 60Hz |
| Battery | 4,500mAh | 5,000mAh |
| Charging | 80W dual-cell fast charging | 18W |
| Rear cameras | 50MP + 2MP | 50MP + 2MP |
| Front camera | 8MP | 16MP |
| microSD expansion | Not stated in the cited Chinese launch coverage | Reported support up to 1TB |
The Chinese model’s reported physical details were about 8.59mm thick and 194g, with black, pink and gradient blue color options. Those details belong to that model and should not be assumed for every Y77 5G listing. ITHome and FoneArena reported the Chinese model’s specifications and colors.

Leak versus launch: what held up?
| Pre-launch claim | What later reporting established |
|---|---|
| July 7 launch expected | The phone was announced in July 2022; July 7 was the date given in the pre-launch report. |
| Starting price around CNY 1,299 | Chinese launch coverage reported a starting price of CNY 1,499, with higher prices for larger memory configurations. |
| Dimensity 8100 in Y77-series reports | The standard Chinese vivo Y77 launched with Dimensity 930. The earlier Dimensity 8100 report was not confirmed for that model. |
| 120Hz display | Confirmed for the Chinese Y77; the international Y77 5G was reported with a 60Hz display. |
| 4,500mAh battery and 80W charging | Confirmed for the Chinese model, but not applicable to the international version, reported with 5,000mAh and 18W charging. |
| 50MP main camera | The Chinese launch configuration included a 50MP main camera, alongside a 2MP secondary camera. |
The “Y77” and “Y77 Pro 5G” names also appeared together in some pre-launch coverage. A report about the Pro or the broader series is not proof of the standard Y77’s final hardware. The final Chinese specifications are summarized in ITHome’s launch report and Gadgets 360’s launch coverage.

The Y77 dates from 2022, so a used or old-stock purchase should be evaluated against newer phones and the risks of an older device. First identify the exact regional model rather than relying on the seller’s “Y77 5G” title.

- Confirm the model and market: Ask for the model number and verify whether it is the China-market Y77 or the international Y77 5G.
- Check carrier bands: 5G capability by itself does not establish compatibility with a particular carrier, especially for an imported phone. Verify the exact model against the carrier’s supported bands.
- Check software and services: For a Chinese import, confirm the installed firmware, language support, Google-service availability and update situation rather than assuming they match an international unit.
- Inspect condition and warranty: For used or old stock, check battery health, return terms, repair options and whether any warranty is valid in your country.
- Compare total cost: Include import charges and the value of local support. Compare the result with a newer, officially supported 5G phone.
The Chinese model’s faster charging and 120Hz display may matter more to one buyer; the international model’s larger reported battery and microSD support may suit another. Neither specification sheet establishes real-world battery life, camera quality or charging time, and megapixel counts alone do not predict photo quality.
