Display: Redmi has the stronger panel specification on paper
The Chile-listed Redmi pairs a 6.99-inch AMOLED panel with 2396 × 1080 resolution. The India-listed vivo has a 6.68-inch LCD at 1608 × 720. Both manufacturers specify refresh rates up to 120Hz, but refresh rate alone does not establish overall image quality, brightness, or how smooth a particular app will look. The listed panel type and resolution make the Redmi’s cited Chile configuration the stronger display specification on paper.

Processor: newer model name is not a benchmark
The India Y31 listing names the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, while the Chile Redmi listing names the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, with a stated maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz. Both are listed as 4nm chips. Those manufacturer specifications do not establish how much faster one phone is in everyday use; no independent benchmark results are available here. App performance also depends on the exact configuration and software, so avoid choosing solely from the processor name.
Battery and charging: keep regional capacities separate
vivo India lists a 6500mAh typical battery (6355mAh rated) and 44W charging. Xiaomi Chile lists a 7700mAh typical battery and 45W charging; Xiaomi India’s product page instead claims 8000mAh typical and 45W. Treat these as market-specific published figures and confirm the capacity for the exact retail SKU you are considering. Capacity figures do not by themselves predict how long a phone lasts between charges.

Charging accessories may differ too. vivo India says its 44W charging is paired with a standard vivo charger. Xiaomi Chile lists 45W charging but says the adapter is not included. Check the local box contents before buying an adapter; bundle details can vary by region.
Cameras: compare more than megapixel counts
The cited India vivo page lists a 50MP main rear camera alongside a 0.08MP rear camera, plus an 8MP front camera. Xiaomi Chile lists a 50MP rear camera and 16MP front camera. These are resolution specifications, not evidence that one phone takes better photos or selfies. Sensor details, image processing, and independent photo comparisons are not established by these listings.

Storage: match the configuration you will actually buy
In India, vivo lists 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB configurations. Xiaomi Chile lists 6GB/128GB and 6GB/256GB. Both cited pages state expansion support up to 2TB. Availability and configuration names should be checked against local listings; a storage option published for one market may not be sold in another.
Durability ratings and regional model differences
The India Y31 page lists IP68/IP69, and the Chile Redmi page lists IP65. Both manufacturers qualify their ratings by specified test conditions; neither rating means a phone is damage-proof or that liquid damage is covered by warranty. Check warranty terms and handle either phone as an electronic device that can be damaged by water or dust.

Regional differences extend beyond the two pages used in the main comparison. vivo’s Europe Y31 page, for example, lists a 6.72-inch 2408 × 1080 LCD, 32MP front camera, 50MP + 2MP rear cameras, and storage options that include 6GB/256GB and Spain-only 6GB/512GB. Those are not the India-listed Y31 specifications. See the vivo Europe specifications if you are shopping in Europe; do not combine figures from different regional models.

The cited vivo India page specifies Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. Xiaomi’s Chile specifications list HyperOS 3. Xiaomi India states four years of OS updates and six years of security updates for its India product listing; that commitment should not be assumed to apply identically to Redmi units sold in every market. Check the local product page for the software and support terms attached to the version you plan to buy.
Price difference: what the available India listing does—and does not—show
Xiaomi India’s store listing showed ₹27,999 for the Redmi Note 17 5G with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage when accessed. Its page also showed ₹39,999 as a marketing price; that figure is not a verified current competing transaction price. The cited vivo India specifications page does not provide a current matching price, so the price gap between the two phones is not established.
For a meaningful comparison, check prices in the same country and on the same date, and match storage tier, seller type, warranty, and included accessories. The Xiaomi store figure is time-sensitive and specific to the listed 6GB/128GB configuration; it does not establish what every buyer will pay.
