Which specifications actually differ?
Software and protection
The V50e lists Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15, compared with Android 14 and Funtouch OS 14 on the V40e. It also explicitly lists IP68 and IP69 protection ratings. The V40e specification page cited here does not show an ingress-protection rating; that omission does not establish that the phone has a particular rating or no protection.
Battery and charging
vivo lists a typical battery capacity of 5600mAh for the V50e and 5500mAh for the V40e. The 100mAh difference is a specification comparison, not a battery-life result. The V50e’s listed charging rating is 90W versus 80W for the V40e; those ratings alone do not establish how long either phone takes to charge.

Display and cameras
Both India pages list a 6.77-inch, 2392 × 1080 AMOLED display. The V40e page explicitly lists 120Hz, while the captured V50e page material does not establish its refresh rate, so the available specifications do not support a claim that their refresh rates match.
Both list a 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main rear camera and an 8MP secondary rear camera described as ultrawide or wide-angle. The V40e’s front camera is specified as 50MP with autofocus and an ultra-wide-angle lens; the V50e page lists a 50MP front camera without those additional details. Similar headline camera hardware does not prove equal image processing or photo quality.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the V50e if its explicitly listed IP68/IP69 ratings, newer listed Android and Funtouch OS versions, 5600mAh typical capacity, or 90W charging rating matter to you. At the observed 256GB listed prices, it is level with the V40e.
- Consider the V40e if you want its explicitly specified 120Hz display refresh rate or are comparing the listed 8GB/128GB option at ₹33,999. The available V50e 128GB store price was not established, so that lower-capacity price comparison remains incomplete.
- Do not choose on presumed speed or camera superiority based only on these specifications. Both list the Dimensity 7300 and similar headline rear-camera hardware, and no independent performance, endurance, charging-time, or camera test figures are established here.
