What changes between the V40 and V80?
Camera: V80 adds a dedicated telephoto camera
The V40 has a main and a wide-angle rear camera. The V80’s listed setup includes a 50MP OIS telephoto camera as well as a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide. vivo’s V80 product page highlights 3× optical zoom and 4K 60fps recording. That gives the V80 a more explicitly versatile camera setup on paper, especially for zoom framing, but specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or video.
Display: the V40 is larger; the V80 can refresh faster
The V40’s listed screen is 6.78 inches, compared with 6.59 inches on the V80. The V40 is specified at 120Hz, while the V80 is listed at up to 144Hz. The V80 therefore has the higher maximum refresh rate, but the V40 offers more screen area. The resolution figures are close: 2800 × 1260 for the V40 and 2750 × 1260 for the V80.

Battery and charging: higher V80 ratings, not a proven runtime result
vivo lists a typical 7200mAh battery and 90W charging for the V80, versus 5500mAh and 80W for the V40. These are manufacturer ratings, not measured battery-life or charging-time comparisons. Actual endurance and charging speed depend on use and conditions; the supported wattage is a maximum rather than a guarantee of a particular charging time.
Processor and software
The V80 is listed with the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform, while the V40 uses Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The listed software also differs: OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 for the V80 and Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 for the V40.
