It is a six-legged, exploration-oriented robot that runs the Linux-based MIND operating system, and its MIND SDK lets developers build installable programs called Skills. HEXA is more capable and extensible than a fixed-function toy, but its current availability and support are uncertain: a retailer listing showed it out of stock.
What is the Vincross HEXA?
HEXA is a compact hexapod—a robot with six legs—designed for walking, climbing and exploring terrain. Vincross’s starter guide describes it as able to pass through caves and lists a camera, infrared transmitter and distance-measuring sensor among its equipment. These are the manufacturer’s stated capabilities, not a guarantee that it can handle every surface or environment.

Its six legs have three joints each, while its head rotates through 360 degrees. The combination is intended to let the robot orient its camera and move in ways a wheeled robot cannot. The launch specifications describe it as 12 cm tall, 50.8 cm in diameter, about 1.5 kg in weight, and able to carry a payload of about 1.5 kg.

Can you program HEXA yourself?
Yes. HEXA runs MIND, a Linux-kernel-based operating system, and the MIND SDK is designed for creating Skills: applications that control the robot’s movement, sensors and connected hardware. Vincross’s starter guide identifies Explore, Dance and Simulator Kit as preinstalled Skills and describes downloading or publishing more through a Skill Store. The guide presents this as a platform for custom behaviors, rather than a robot limited to its original preset routines. Vincross HEXA starter guide

What developers can connect
The published hardware interfaces include USB 2.0, a 3.5 mm audio connection, I2C, ADC and GPIO, along with 5 V and 3.3 V outputs. These give developers ways to attach peripherals or interface with electronics; they do not, by themselves, confirm compatibility with any particular accessory.

What can HEXA do?
Out of the box, the documented examples include exploration and dance behaviors, along with a simulator. With custom Skills, the platform is intended to support behaviors that combine motion, sensing and connected hardware. The launch announcement offered palm-following control, remote inspection of narrow or inaccessible spaces, and moving a potted plant toward sunlight as examples. Those are vendor examples, not independently verified performance tests. Vincross launch examples

That makes it interesting for experimentation and robotics projects; it does not mean it is a general-purpose autonomous robot ready to navigate any home, outdoor route or hazardous space.
Is HEXA still available to buy?
Availability is not established as current. Oz Robotics listed HEXA for $1,920 and marked it “Out of stock” when its page was crawled; that historical listing is not evidence of present stock or a current price. Oz Robotics HEXA listing

| Robot | Programming and learning features | How it differs from HEXA |
|---|---|---|
| DFRobot Insectbot Hexa | Arduino-based kit with Bluetooth 4.0 wireless programming and graphical Ardublock support, according to DFRobot | Beginner-oriented build-and-code kit rather than a ready-made exploration robot with HEXA’s documented MIND platform. DFRobot Insectbot Hexa |
| Hiwonder miniHexa | Manufacturer describes Arduino programming, open-source code, tutorials, schematics, ultrasonic and IMU sensors, expansion ports, and obstacle-avoidance, visual-recognition and voice-control options | A learning and development hexapod with different capabilities and software; confirm the exact package and included features with Hiwonder. For a beginner who wants to assemble and code a walking robot, the Insectbot Hexa’s Arduino and Ardublock approach is the clearest fit. For a kit with more documented sensing and expansion options, compare the miniHexa’s current configuration and support. Neither should be assumed to offer HEXA’s original MIND SDK or Skill Store.
