What Vimeo offers for a 24/7 YouTube channel
Vimeo documents two distinct ways to keep a stream running, and the difference determines whether Vimeo fits a YouTube-first channel.
Playlist-based scheduled streaming
For prerecorded programming, Vimeo describes a scheduled stream sourced from simulive: upload content, create an event, choose the scheduled start, and configure destinations. Its product page also describes a playlist supplying a 24/7 channel and says a scheduled stream can simulcast to YouTube and social destinations. Vimeo lists features such as chat, Q&A, polls, registration, and an on-demand replay after a simulive premiere. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently tested here. This is the relevant Vimeo workflow if the channel will play prerecorded videos in a programmed loop. Vimeo’s public product page describes the capability, but availability for a particular account, plan, and region should be confirmed directly before purchase.

Encoder-fed Extended streaming
Vimeo Help Center describes Extended streaming as a continuous RTMP stream from an encoder that remains active while it receives a signal. It is an Enterprise add-on. Vimeo states that this mode cannot simulcast to other destinations, and that recording and DVR are unavailable for it. Therefore, it does not meet the requirement to send that same extended encoder stream from Vimeo to YouTube. Vimeo Help: About extended streaming
These workflows should not be conflated: playlist-based scheduled programming is the documented Vimeo route that may simulcast to YouTube; Extended streaming is an incoming encoder feed with a stated no-simulcast restriction.

Can you simulcast a Vimeo stream to YouTube?
For a scheduled playlist-based stream, Vimeo documents both direct YouTube account integration and a custom RTMP destination. The destination YouTube account must be verified for live streaming. For scheduled YouTube RTMP streams, Vimeo warns that you may need to select Go live manually in YouTube Live Control Room. Vimeo Help: How to simulcast your event to YouTube

Browser-based streams cannot have simulcast settings reconfigured after going live. Which Vimeo plan and limits apply?
Vimeo’s Help Center describes different limits for standard event streams and its Extended streaming add-on. Those details do not establish that playlist-based 24/7 scheduled channels are included on every account or plan, so confirm the exact entitlement with Vimeo before subscribing.

Vimeo’s Advanced-plan help page lists 7 TB of storage, 10 seats, up to two concurrent virtual events, simulcasting, event chat/Q&A/polls, event analytics, and one Livestream Studio encoding-software license. Vimeo’s live-broadcast product page has shown Advanced at $76 per month for 10 seats and 7 TB, while a separate current pricing-page result showed $75 per seat per month and different included-seat details. Because those presentations conflict, check Vimeo checkout for your region, billing term, seats, and the specific scheduled-channel feature rather than relying on one headline figure. Does Vimeo’s 24/7 stream need an encoder?
A prerecorded playlist scheduled through Vimeo does not inherently require a hardware encoder: the source is uploaded content managed as a scheduled event. An encoder matters for a live incoming signal, including Extended streaming, which requires RTMP. Buying an encoder will not remove Extended streaming’s inability to simulcast to YouTube through Vimeo.

How to set up Vimeo-to-YouTube scheduled streaming
- Confirm account eligibility. Ask Vimeo whether playlist-based 24/7 scheduled streaming is enabled for your account, plan, and region, and verify any playlist, storage, concurrency, or duration limits that apply.
- Verify YouTube live access. The YouTube channel used as a destination must be verified and enabled for live streaming.
- Upload and organize the programming. Add the prerecorded content you want the scheduled stream or playlist to use. Check that you have the rights to stream every video and any included music.
- Create the Vimeo event. Create a live event, choose simulive as its source, and set the scheduled start time. If Vimeo exposes a playlist-based 24/7 channel option on your account, configure the playlist for that workflow.
- Add YouTube as a destination. In the event’s Destinations settings, either connect YouTube directly or select custom RTMP and enter the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private.
- Check the scheduled launch. Confirm the right YouTube channel and event are selected. For an RTMP-scheduled stream, be ready to choose Go live in YouTube Live Control Room if required.
- Verify playback on YouTube. Check the live player, audio, video, and destination status at launch. Make destination changes before the stream is live where possible; Vimeo says browser-based streams cannot have simulcast settings reconfigured after going live.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Having a technical path to broadcast a playlist does not grant permission to use its contents. Before scheduling, confirm that you own or have permission for the video, music, and other material in every item. YouTube’s copyright systems and channel rules still apply to a simulcast; a valid Vimeo destination setup is not a copyright clearance. Repeated, minimally changed, or otherwise reused programming can also raise separate monetization and channel-policy questions. Review YouTube’s current policies for the channel and content rather than assuming that continuous playback is automatically eligible for monetization.

Common problems and what to check
- You cannot find a 24/7 playlist option: confirm feature availability for your account, region, and plan with Vimeo; its public product description alone does not establish access for every subscriber.
- YouTube does not appear as a destination: use the direct integration or configure custom RTMP with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, and confirm the YouTube channel is verified for live streaming.
- The scheduled YouTube event does not start: inspect YouTube Live Control Room; Vimeo says a scheduled RTMP stream may require you to select Go live manually.
- You need to change destinations after launch: Vimeo says browser-based streams cannot have simulcast settings reconfigured once live. Plan destinations beforehand; switching one off and back on can archive the original event and create a new one at that destination.
- You expect Extended streaming to forward to YouTube: Vimeo states that Extended streams cannot simulcast to other destinations. Use the playlist-based scheduled workflow if it is available and suits prerecorded content, or choose a different YouTube streaming setup.
- You need a recording or DVR from an Extended stream: Vimeo says those capabilities are unavailable in Extended streaming mode; confirm the requirements before selecting it.
