Victrola’s Wave and Soundstage Aim to Make Vinyl Setup Simpler

Victrola’s Wave turntable and Soundstage soundbase streamline a vinyl setup with fewer components. Here’s what to check on connections, space, and vibration.

Victrola’s Wave turntable and Soundstage soundbase are designed to make a vinyl system easier to assemble: the turntable handles playback, while the low-profile speaker sits beneath it and accepts wired or wireless connections. That can reduce the number of separate boxes and cables, but it does not make every setup automatic or prove that an under-turntable speaker will work equally well on every surface, at every volume.

What makes the Wave and Soundstage simpler to set up?

The conventional route to playing records through speakers often involves a turntable, a phono preamp if the turntable does not have one, and powered speakers or an amplifier with passive speakers. Victrola’s Wave has a switchable phono preamp and RCA output, while Soundstage combines speaker and amplification in a soundbase designed to sit directly below a turntable. Connect the two by RCA, or use a supported wireless connection, and there are fewer separate components to position.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

That is the practical meaning of “simple” here: fewer boxes and a compact arrangement, not the removal of all setup choices. You still need a stable surface, a compatible connection, enough room for the equipment, and sensible placement.

Soundstage: one speaker unit beneath the turntable

Victrola describes Soundstage as a low-profile soundbase intended to sit under a turntable. Its listed inputs are RCA, 3.5 mm AUX, and USB-C; it also supports Bluetooth and Auracast transmitting and receiving. Victrola says it is designed to pair with the Wave and Automatic turntables, while also working with other turntables. See Victrola’s Soundstage product page for current specifications and availability.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The listed dimensions are 16.9 inches wide, 15.1 inches deep, and 3.5 inches tall. Measure the shelf or table as well as the turntable: those dimensions describe the Soundstage, not the full footprint of the assembled system. Leave room for cable connections and check that the turntable’s feet sit securely on the soundbase.

Wave: a turntable with wired and wireless options

Victrola lists Bluetooth 5.4, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, and Auracast Broadcast Audio for the Wave. It also has RCA output and a switchable phono preamp. With the preamp enabled, its RCA output can connect to Soundstage’s RCA input or to compatible powered speakers. With a separate amplifier, check whether the amplifier expects a phono-level signal or a line-level signal, then set the turntable’s preamp accordingly.

Wireless specifications are not a guarantee that two devices will use every listed format together. Check that the receiving speaker supports the codec or Auracast mode you intend to use. For the Wave, Victrola’s January 2026 announcement listed a $499 MSRP for the Walnut finish; that announcement price is not a promise of today’s retail price. Victrola specifies the Ortofon OM 5E cartridge for the Walnut finish only. Details are on Victrola’s Wave and Tempo Walnut announcement.

How to choose between Soundstage and separate speakers

Soundstage prioritizes a compact, integrated layout. Separate bookshelf speakers give you more freedom to spread the speakers apart and position them around a listening area, but require more space and a suitable connection path. Neither layout is established as the sound-quality winner by the available evidence; there is no controlled direct comparison between Soundstage and Tempo.

Consideration Soundstage soundbase Tempo bookshelf speakers
Layout One low-profile unit designed to sit under a turntable; listed dimensions are 16.9 × 15.1 × 3.5 inches, according to Victrola. Two separate speakers that need their own placement space. Victrola mentions angled bookshelf stands as an accessory for listening angle and vibration control.
Connections RCA, 3.5 mm AUX, USB-C, Bluetooth, and Auracast transmit and receive, according to Victrola. RCA, 3.5 mm AUX, optical, USB-C, Bluetooth, Auracast receive and broadcast, and a subwoofer output, according to Victrola.
Published price Victrola’s launch announcement stated $349.99 and Summer 2026 availability; a later live collection listing displayed $329.99. Prices and availability can change, so check the current product page. Victrola’s January 2026 Walnut announcement listed an MSRP of $249 per pair; that is an announcement MSRP, not a current street-price guarantee.
What the evidence establishes Victrola describes vibration-control design; a CES demonstration offers limited subjective observations, not a controlled test. No controlled comparison with Soundstage establishes which sounds better.

The Soundstage price figures differ because the launch announcement and a later live listing showed different amounts. The announcement’s Summer 2026 availability statement is not a substitute for checking whether the product is currently in stock.

Does placing a speaker under a turntable cause vibration?

It can be a concern: a turntable’s stylus reads tiny movements in the record groove, so vibration reaching the turntable may affect playback. Victrola says Soundstage is designed with vibration isolation, but that is a manufacturer claim, not proof that feedback is eliminated in every room or arrangement.

At CES 2026, TechRadar reporter Matt Bolton said vibration was barely perceptible on Soundstage’s sides, back, and top during the demonstration. He described the sound as warm and somewhat bass-forward, with limited fine detail apparent in that show-floor demo. Those observations are useful as an early hands-on impression, but they are not a laboratory measurement or a full review. Room acoustics, furniture, volume, the turntable, and its placement can all change the result. TechRadar’s account is at its CES hands-on report.

A practical setup checklist

  1. Check the surface and dimensions. Confirm that the table or shelf can accommodate Soundstage’s 16.9-by-15.1-inch footprint, plus the turntable and space for cables. Use a stable surface and position the turntable securely.
  2. Choose wired or wireless. For wired playback, connect the Wave’s RCA output to Soundstage’s RCA input. For wireless playback, pair compatible devices and verify the supported codec or Auracast mode on both ends.
  3. Set the Wave’s phono preamp for the connection. Use the built-in preamp when connecting to a line-level input such as Soundstage’s RCA input. If connecting to an amplifier’s phono input, set the Wave’s switchable preamp to the appropriate setting to avoid sending an already amplified signal into a phono stage.
  4. Listen at a moderate level and check for unwanted feedback. If you hear persistent rumble or feedback, lower the volume and try separating the turntable from the speaker or moving the system to a more stable surface. A compact layout is convenient, but it is not a guarantee against vibration in every setup.

Who is this setup for?

  • Choose the Wave and Soundstage pairing if you want a compact system with fewer separate components and a soundbase designed to sit under a turntable.
  • Consider separate speakers such as Tempo if you have room to place two speakers apart, need the specific inputs or subwoofer output Victrola lists for Tempo, or prefer more placement flexibility.
  • Look beyond this pairing if your priority is a proven sound-quality comparison or guaranteed vibration-free playback. The available CES impression and manufacturer claims do not establish either outcome.

Victrola CEO Scott Hagen framed the company’s approach to new vinyl listeners as removing the sense that a good-looking, good-sounding system must be “hard or scary to set up.” In an October 2026 interview with What Hi-Fi?, Hagen said the company wants to “take the fear away.” The same article reports, citing the British Phonographic Industry, that UK vinyl sales rose 19.9% in 2026, contributing to a third consecutive year of growth in physical music revenue. That UK market figure provides context for Victrola’s stated audience, not evidence about demand for these particular products.
