Used with Vector’s CANoe.AMD, it was intended to help developers inspect ECU runtime and status information while testing application and basic software. The announcement describes product capabilities, not measured performance results, and does not establish a publication date, release number or current product availability.
What Vector announced
Embedded.com reported that Vector Informatik had revised its AUTOSAR basic software package to add testing and debugging functions for AUTOSAR electronic control units (ECUs). The package named in the article is MICROSAR AMD. It includes DLT and DBG modules associated with AUTOSAR 4.x, plus Vector’s Runtime Measurement Module. Read the Embedded.com announcement.

The announcement presents MICROSAR AMD as a Vector implementation and tool package, not as part of the AUTOSAR standard itself. AUTOSAR is an industry partnership that develops a standardized automotive software framework and electrical/electronic architecture. Its Classic Platform addresses deeply embedded systems with requirements for predictability, safety, security and responsiveness. AUTOSAR’s overview explains the partnership and framework.
What DLT, DBG and RTM were meant to do
Diagnostic Log and Trace and Debugging
The announcement identifies DLT and DBG as modules in MICROSAR AMD, but does not detail their interfaces, supported configurations or operating limits. It describes them as part of the package’s testing and debugging capabilities; more specific implementation claims should not be inferred from the article alone.

Runtime Measurement Module
RTM was described as an extension to AUTOSAR 4.x for measuring execution time at selected points in application software and basic software (BSW). The stated examples are task and interrupt runtimes. This kind of measurement can help an engineering team examine timing behavior at chosen points in the ECU software, rather than relying only on externally visible behavior.
How CANoe.AMD fit into the workflow
Vector paired MICROSAR AMD with CANoe.AMD. According to the announcement, the combination let developers access runtime and status information from application and basic software, and compare internal ECU parameters with external parameters and bus communication. These are the vendor capabilities reported by Embedded.com, not results from an independent benchmark.

Internal observability matters because an ECU test may need to explain not only whether a network-level response was correct, but also what state or timing behavior inside the software accompanied it. Vector Certification’s AUTOSAR ECU testing material notes that test environments must account for AUTOSAR network management and system-description communication formats. It also describes standardized ECU and communication state, access through XCP where supported, and AUTOSAR monitoring/debugging as possible routes to information. Vector Certification: Testing of AUTOSAR ECUs.
How this relates to current AUTOSAR testing tools
Vector’s current product pages describe several adjacent testing approaches. They are useful context, but they do not establish that the historical MICROSAR AMD or CANoe.AMD names remain available or supported.

These approaches address different layers of verification. Virtual ECU testing can move component or integrated ECU software through development without target hardware; test-design tools organize automated ECU or system cases and traceability; code-testing tools focus on units and integration. The historical AMD announcement’s distinctive emphasis is runtime and status access inside the ECU. The appropriate approach depends on the test target, execution environment, observability needs, evidence requirements and whether scenarios need to be reused across development stages.
