Every supported match you play on an Agent earns Mastery Points for that Agent only, and those points advance two separate meters: Act Levels, which reset at the start of each new Act, and Lifetime Levels, which persist across Acts. Lifetime progress is also what opens each Agent’s Reward Track, where you spend Kingdom Credits on rewards. The mechanics below come from Riot Games’ VALORANT Patch Notes 13.06, published 2026-09-22.
How Mastery Points work
Mastery Points are the single currency that drives both levels. They are earned per Agent, so time on Clove does nothing for Sova, and each Agent carries its own Act Levels, Lifetime Levels, Reward Track, and Agent ID.

Which matches earn points
Riot says playing supported game modes on an Agent grants that Agent Mastery Points. The patch notes do not provide a complete list of supported modes, so do not assume every queue awards points until you confirm it in-game or in a later official note.
Bonus points for wins and strong performance
Wins and strong performance grant bonus points on top of the base amount. Riot does not publish the formula, the performance threshold, or the size of the bonus, so the exact value of a win or a standout round cannot be calculated from the notes.

Act Levels: the current-Act track
Each Agent has 10 main Act Levels per Act. Act Levels measure your progress with one Agent during the current Act and reset when the next Act begins, so every Agent starts the new Act back at zero.

These milestones are stated in Riot’s Patch 13.06 notes. Riot does not list the Mastery Point cost of each level, so the notes do not tell you how many matches a given level takes.
Overleveling after level 10
Reaching Act Level 10 allows Overleveling for the rest of that Act. Overleveling continues to add progress after the main ten levels, which matters if you want to keep grinding a favorite Agent through the Act rather than stopping at the last milestone.

Lifetime Levels: the cross-Act track
Lifetime Levels persist across Acts and do not reset. Riot’s Patch 13.06 notes state the relationship directly: “When you increase your Act Level you also increase your Lifetime Level. Simply put: 1 Act Level = 1 Lifetime Level.” Every Act Level you gain therefore also moves the Lifetime meter by one, so Act progress is never wasted when the Act ends.
Act Levels and Lifetime Levels compared
| Feature | Act Levels | Lifetime Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Time horizon | Current Act only | Across Acts |
| Reset behavior | Reset at the start of each new Act | Persist; not reset |
| Main function | Portrait Accent milestones at levels 4, 7, and 10; Overleveling after 10 | Unlocks access to the Agent’s Reward Track |
| Points source | Mastery Points for that Agent | Mastery Points for that Agent, via Act Level gains (1 Act Level = 1 Lifetime Level) |
The practical split: Act Levels reward short-term play during an Act, while Lifetime Levels build a long-term record that gates your rewards.
Rank #4

The Reward Track and Kingdom Credits
Lifetime progress unlocks access to each Agent’s Reward Track. On the track you spend Kingdom Credits to unlock the rewards you want. The choice is yours; the track does not hand out a fixed sequence of items.

What is on the track
Tracks combine two groups of items. The first is legacy Agent Gear rewards from the previous system. The second is new rewards introduced with Agent Mastery. Riot says Agent Gear you have already unlocked stays with your account, so the change does not take anything back.

Agent ID components
Reward Tracks also supply Agent ID components. You unlock, customize, and equip these through the Agent’s track. The notes describe the components’ function but do not list the individual items or their Kingdom Credit prices, so check the track in-game for current costs.
What resets and what does not
Agent Mastery is a new system, and Riot states that everyone starts at zero Act and Lifetime progress for every Agent. Prior playtime and progress on any Agent do not carry over. Because this applies to every account, a long-time player and a new player begin on equal footing for each Agent.
What the official notes do not settle
Several details are not covered by Riot’s Patch 13.06 explanation:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Mastery Point thresholds for each Act Level and for each Lifetime Level.
- A complete list of supported game modes that award points.
- The exact formula for win and performance bonuses.
- The Kingdom Credit prices of individual rewards on each track.
- Whether these rules stay the same after this patch.
Treat any points table or mode list from third parties as unverified unless Riot publishes it. For changes after 2026-09-22, check the most recent official VALORANT patch notes before relying on any of the figures above.
