Valor Mortis Lullaby Quest Walkthrough: Choices, Reward, Consequences and Missables

Lullaby is a fixed retrieval quest in Valor Mortis. This walkthrough shows where to start, how to find the Weathered Key and Toy, what Tomorrow's Promise Amber does in the reward context, and why the quest is not considered missable.

Lullaby is a fixed item-recovery quest in Valor Mortis, not a documented branching conversation. Start it at the empty crib in Fallen Village > Marketplace, retrieve the Weathered Key and Toy, then return the Toy to the crib. Completion awards Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.

This walkthrough gives the exact route, explains what the quest does and does not let you choose, and clarifies whether waiting until after the story risks losing it.

Lullaby at a glance

The quest begins when you approach an empty crib inside a house near the water in Fallen Village’s Marketplace area. The objective is a short retrieval chain: find a key outside the crib house, use it to reach a second house across the river, take the Toy from its bed, and bring it back.

  • Start: Empty crib in the crib house at Fallen Village > Marketplace.
  • Required items: Weathered Key, then Toy.
  • Finish: Interact with the original crib after returning with the Toy.
  • Reward: Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.
  • Documented choices: None in the Lullaby walkthrough; the sequence has one recorded outcome.

The route is deliberately backtracking-based. If you reach the crib first and do not see a conventional dialogue prompt, that is expected: approaching the object itself starts the quest.

How to start Lullaby in Fallen Village

Find the Marketplace crib house

Travel to the Fallen Village > Marketplace Lantern. From the Lantern, walk toward the water and the distant flames. Enter the house containing the empty crib and approach the crib. That interaction starts Lullaby.

The location matters because Fallen Village contains multiple structures and paths. The identifying landmarks are the Marketplace Lantern, the waterline, distant flames, and the empty crib inside the house. You do not start Lullaby by speaking to a named quest giver.

Complete walkthrough

  1. Approach the empty crib. From the Marketplace Lantern, head toward the water and distant flames, enter the house, and walk up to the crib. This is the quest trigger.
  2. Exit through the back door. Leave the crib house using its rear exit. On the ground outside, near the enemies, collect the Weathered Key.
  3. Reach the locked house across the river. Turn back toward the previous area. After the Volunteer, turn right and follow the path toward the house on the other side of the river. Jump across the river to reach it.
  4. Unlock the house and take the Toy. Use the Weathered Key on the door. Inside, pick up the Toy from the bed.
  5. Return to the crib house. Retrace the route to the original house in the Marketplace. Interact with the crib while carrying the Toy to place it and complete Lullaby.

There is no separate hand-in NPC or additional objective documented after the Toy is placed. The crib interaction is the completion event.

Where to find the Weathered Key

The Weathered Key is outside the crib house, on the ground near the enemies. You can collect it only after starting the quest and leaving through the back door. If you search the river house first, its locked door cannot be opened until you have this key.

After picking it up, head back toward the preceding area rather than continuing deeper into the Marketplace. Use the Volunteer as your navigation landmark, turn right afterward, and follow the path to the river crossing. The key is for the house across that river; it is not used on the crib house itself.

What to do with the Toy

The Toy is inside the key-locked house across the river. Once you have jumped over, unlocked the door, and entered, take the Toy from the bed. Its purpose in Lullaby is purely to finish the delivery objective: carry it back to the house where you found the empty crib and interact with the crib.

If the crib does not complete the quest, verify that you returned to the original house rather than another building in the Marketplace and that you are interacting with the crib itself. The documented route does not require an extra conversation or a second item.

Lullaby reward: Tomorrow’s Promise Amber

Completing the crib interaction awards Tomorrow’s Promise Amber. This is the quest’s recorded reward; no alternate Lullaby reward is documented for choosing a different response or taking a different route.

Amber is Valor Mortis‘ equipment system. The complete walkthrough describes Amber effects that can provide benefits such as health regeneration or increased damage after actions including dodging or parrying. The available guide identifies Tomorrow’s Promise as the Lullaby reward but does not establish a unique effect, level, or stat spread for that particular Amber, so those details should not be inferred from the quest name.

For collection planning, PowerPyx’s 2026 walkthrough counts 28 unique Ambers, of which 15 can be upgraded to level 3. Those totals describe the game’s wider Amber pool, not a claim that Tomorrow’s Promise is one of the 15 upgradeable entries.

Are there Lullaby choices or different consequences?

No Lullaby-specific dialogue choice is documented. The walkthrough presents a fixed item-delivery sequence: trigger the crib, take the Weathered Key, retrieve the Toy, and return it. Nothing in that sequence establishes a choice that changes the ending, an NPC’s fate, the reward, or the quest state.

It helps to distinguish navigation decisions from narrative branches. You can approach the locations in your own movement order, but the recorded objectives remain the same. The key must open the river house, and the Toy must be placed in the original crib.

The broader side-quest guide notes that some other side quests include dialogue choices; in those cases, its guidance says the reward remains the same. That general observation is not evidence of a hidden Lullaby branch. If a future, version-specific update adds dialogue to Lullaby, check whether it changes the immediate quest state, an NPC outcome, trophy or achievement progress, or only the wording of a scene. The currently documented route provides no such alternate outcome.

Is Lullaby missable?

PowerPyx states that, with the exception of The Choir, side quests are not missable and can be started and completed after the story. Lullaby is included among those side quests, so it is not identified as a permanently missable quest.

The complete walkthrough also says that missed items remain collectible after the final boss. That makes postponing Lullaby a practical cleanup option: you can continue the main story, then return to Fallen Village and complete the crib, key, river-house, and Toy sequence later.

“Not missable” does not mean the quest will complete without revisiting every step. When cleaning up after the story, still visit the Marketplace crib house, collect the Weathered Key near the enemies, cross the river to the locked house, retrieve the Toy, and return it to the crib. The post-story guidance concerns availability, not an abbreviated objective list.

Troubleshooting the route

The quest did not start

Make sure you are at the house with the empty crib near the water and distant flames, reached from the Marketplace Lantern. Lullaby starts by approaching the crib, not by interacting with a general area marker or speaking to the Volunteer.

The Weathered Key is missing

Leave the crib house through its back door and inspect the ground near the enemies. The key is placed there in the documented sequence. If you went directly toward the river house, return to the crib house, trigger Lullaby, and use the rear exit.

The river house is still locked

Confirm that you collected the Weathered Key, then follow the path after the Volunteer, turn right, and jump across the river. The key opens the house on the far side; reaching the doorway without completing the pickup leaves the door locked.

The Toy is not completing the quest

The Toy comes from the bed inside the unlocked river house. After taking it, go back to the original crib house and interact with the crib. There is no documented alternate drop-off point.

How Lullaby fits into completion planning

PowerPyx’s 2026 completion walkthrough records 89 collectible locations, 20 side quests, and 11 main quests across 10 regions. These figures provide scale for a full-clear run: Lullaby is one of the 20 side quests rather than a main-story mission.

Because the side-quest rule permits post-story completion and the item guide keeps missed pickups available after the final boss, you do not need to interrupt a story run solely to protect Lullaby. Starting it when you first reach Fallen Village can be convenient because the key and river house are nearby, while postponing it is a valid cleanup strategy if you prefer to keep moving through the main quests.

For an efficient revisit, begin at the Fallen Village Marketplace Lantern and follow the entire loop in one pass. Trigger the crib, collect the key on the back-door route, cross the river after the Volunteer, take the Toy, and return directly to the crib. This avoids searching unrelated houses and keeps the quest’s only required item transfer together.

What the documented evidence supports

  • Lullaby starts at the empty crib in Fallen Village’s Marketplace.
  • The Weathered Key is outside the crib house near the enemies.
  • The key opens the house reached by jumping across the river.
  • The Toy is on the bed inside that house.
  • Placing the Toy in the original crib completes the quest.
  • Tomorrow’s Promise Amber is the recorded reward.
  • No Lullaby-specific branching choice is documented.
  • Lullaby is not identified as missable, and side quests can generally be completed after the story.

Those points are enough to solve the quest without making assumptions about an unverified narrative branch or an undocumented Amber effect.
