Colorlib’s listing describes it as HTML and CSS with a few lines of vanilla JavaScript, rather than a component that requires Bootstrap or jQuery. Its file-folder styling may suit an editorial guide, but check the keyboard and mobile behavior and confirm that the template fits your site before adopting it.
What Tabs V05 is designed to do
Tabs V05 presents a set of selectable labels above a ruled-paper-style content panel. The selected label appears raised, and the folder and panel colors are designed to match the active selection. Colorlib’s example content includes quick-start steps, installation notes, a configuration table, and an API signature—material that can be useful when readers need to switch among related reference topics.

That arrangement works best when each panel is a parallel topic readers can open in any order. It is a poor fit for instructions that require readers to complete one step before moving to the next: tabs can conceal the sequence and make later steps easy to miss. For a required procedure, use an ordered list or another sequential layout instead.

According to the Tabs V05 listing, the template uses HTML, CSS, and a small amount of vanilla JavaScript; it does not require jQuery, Bootstrap files, or plugins. The listing says it can also be used within Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. These are publisher statements: the downloaded files have not been independently inspected here, so verify the package and its integration requirements before deploying it.

Check keyboard and phone behavior before using it
The product page lists swipeable tab navigation on phones and WAI-ARIA tab keyboard controls using the arrow, Home, and End keys. Those are stated features, not independently verified results. Test the actual downloaded component with a keyboard and on narrow screens, particularly if your documentation is a critical support resource.

- Confirm that keyboard users can reach the tab list with Tab and move between tabs with the expected arrow-key behavior.
- Check that the active tab is clearly indicated and that keyboard focus remains visible.
- On a phone, see whether labels fit, wrap, scroll, or require swiping; make sure readers can discover that more tabs are available.
- Verify that selecting a tab exposes the intended panel and that assistive technology can identify the relationship between each tab and panel.
Colorlib’s broader Bootstrap tabs roundup recommends planning for keyboard movement and deciding what should happen when labels do not fit on a phone. It also describes arrow-key movement, with Up and Down used for vertical tab lists in its examples. Match the interaction to your layout and confirm it in the implementation rather than assuming the listing’s feature summary guarantees every detail.
How to decide whether the folder style fits
The visual treatment is distinctive and can help separate topics in a guide, but it may not match an existing product interface. Before integrating it, compare the color changes, raised selected state, ruled-paper panel, and label styling with your site’s design system. Check contrast and selected-state clarity, and confirm that the component remains understandable if your site’s own colors or typography override the template styles.

Use tabs when readers are choosing among related subjects—such as setup, configuration, and API reference—not when they must follow a fixed progression. If there are many long labels or panels, assess whether the tab interface stays easy to scan on desktop and mobile; a contents list or linked sections may be clearer for some documentation.
Release, license, and attribution
Colorlib lists September 2026 as the release month and CC BY 3.0 as the license. Its roundup says free snippets can be used for personal and commercial projects if the credit link is retained. Review the template’s license terms and attribution requirement before publishing a modified or integrated version; do not assume that free download means the credit can be removed.

Adding or renaming a tab

In general, adding or renaming a tab requires keeping its visible label, the corresponding content panel, and their accessibility relationships in sync. Inspect the downloaded markup and scripts for the component’s actual structure, then test that every label opens the correct panel and remains usable by keyboard and on mobile.
