What Samsung Multi Control does
Multi Control shares a Galaxy Book’s keyboard and trackpad with a Galaxy phone or tablet. Samsung’s Galaxy Store description also says you can move files, photos, and other content between the devices. It is designed for interacting with devices side by side, not as a general way to make any Windows computer control a Galaxy phone.

Microsoft described the feature in a February 1, 2023 post as allowing control of a PC, smartphone, and tablet with a Galaxy Book3 keyboard and trackpad, including copying, pasting, and dragging and dropping between devices. That description reflects the requirements published at the time, not a guarantee that every current model is supported.

Samsung’s published requirements identify Galaxy Book series devices released in 2021 or later, with Samsung Settings v1.5 for Intel models or v3.3 for ARM models. Samsung warns that some models may have limited feature support. A Windows PC running Phone Link does not thereby qualify for Multi Control.

Before troubleshooting or changing settings, identify the exact laptop model and check Samsung’s current compatibility guidance. Do not assume that a Galaxy Book meets the requirements just because it is recent, or that installing an app on a different Windows laptop can add Multi Control support.
Check the connected device and software requirements
Samsung’s published software thresholds are not fully consistent across its materials. Microsoft’s February 2023 description lists updated phones with One UI 5.1 and tablets with One UI 4.1 or later. A later Samsung overview lists phones and tablets with One UI 5.1.1 or above. Treat those as published guidance, not one universal minimum; verify support for the exact phone or tablet and Galaxy Book before relying on the feature.

Samsung’s Galaxy Store app description says to enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices and use the same Samsung account. Microsoft’s setup description also says to link the Galaxy device to Windows using Link to Windows and Phone Link, and to sign in with the same Microsoft account. Follow the current on-device setup flow, since instructions and requirements can change with software updates.

Set up Multi Control on compatible devices
- Confirm PC eligibility. Check the exact Galaxy Book model, its release date and processor platform, and the Samsung Settings version. Samsung lists Galaxy Book series models released in 2021 or later, Samsung Settings v1.5 (Intel) or v3.3 (ARM), and cautions that support may be limited by model.
- Update and verify the phone or tablet. Check the device’s One UI version against Samsung’s current compatibility information for that specific model. Published thresholds differ between Samsung and Microsoft documentation.
- Prepare accounts and wireless connections. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices and use the same Samsung account, as Samsung’s app listing instructs. If the current setup flow asks you to link the device to Windows, use Link to Windows and Phone Link and follow Microsoft’s account prompts.
- Open Multi Control and follow its prompts. Use the current Samsung instructions for your Galaxy Book and connected device. Menu names and availability may vary by model and software version.
Multi Control or Phone Link?
These features address different tasks. Multi Control is for sharing a Galaxy Book’s keyboard and trackpad with a supported Galaxy device and moving content between devices. Phone Link is the more relevant route when your goal is to access phone functions from a Windows PC.

Samsung says newer Galaxy phones have Link to Windows built in; if it is not integrated, it can be installed from the Play Store. Its described setup uses Phone Link on the PC, selecting Android, scanning a QR code, and approving permissions. Samsung notes that features and settings vary by model and software version. The devices typically need to use the same network, with a mobile-data setting available.

If your Windows computer does not meet Samsung’s Galaxy Book requirements, use Phone Link if its phone features meet your needs. Phone Link is a separate connection method, not a substitute that unlocks Multi Control on an unsupported PC.

If using Multi Control is essential, check the exact specifications and feature limitations of any Galaxy Book you are considering against Samsung’s current compatibility information. Do not treat the Galaxy Book name alone as proof of support.
