Before buying a urolithin A supplement, compare the amount per serving, the full ingredient and warning panels, the exact product format, and any certification claim. Then check what the evidence actually supports: direct supplementation has been studied in humans, but a study registration or a manufacturer’s benefit claims is not proof that every product improves health.
Start with the Supplement Facts panel
Use the label—not a prominent front-of-bottle claim—to work out what you would take and how often. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Supplement Facts must identify serving size, ingredients, and amounts per serving. Compare those details across products.

- Urolithin A amount: Find the amount per serving and confirm what the serving consists of.
- Serving directions: Check the suggested daily use; a per-serving amount does not by itself tell you the daily amount.
- Other ingredients: Read the full panel, including active and inactive ingredients. An NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database record dated November 22, 2024, shows a Mitopure-containing supplement label; a named ingredient does not mean the product contains only that ingredient. - Warnings and suitability: Read the cautions and check whether they matter for your health circumstances or medicines.
For two or more products, compare these label details side by side rather than comparing only the headline milligram amount. Labels and formulations can change, so verify the current package.

Check what a certification or listing means
Verify a certification claim with the organization named on the label. NSF International’s Mitopure listings, stated current October 2, 2026, name both Urolithin A softgels and berry powder. Check that the listing matches the exact product and format you are considering: a listing for one form is not automatically a listing for another. NSF International’s Mitopure listings

A certifier’s listing is evidence of listing status for the named product; it does not establish that the supplement delivers a particular health benefit. Likewise, a GRAS statement about an ingredient or a third-party listing should not be described as FDA approval of a finished supplement.
Separate direct supplementation from dietary precursor conversion
Urolithin A can be taken directly as a supplement, while some people produce it after consuming dietary precursors. A published human study compared dietary precursor exposure with direct urolithin A supplementation and examined resulting levels. It found that conversion from dietary precursors varies between people. That finding concerns exposure and individual conversion; it does not show that every supplement improves health outcomes for every buyer. Distinguish a trial record from evidence of a result
ClinicalTrials.gov records a randomized, placebo-controlled study in athletes using Mitopure or placebo for four weeks; the registered product description specifies 250 mg urolithin A softgels. The record describes the study design, not its results. A registered trial is not by itself proof of benefit. ClinicalTrials.gov record NCT04783207

Treat those as manufacturer statements, not as an independent assessment of a particular product’s effectiveness. The manufacturer page quotes Scientific Advisor Prof. Dr. med. Do not mistake sale for FDA preapproval
The FDA does not approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness before they are marketed. A supplement being sold, or an ingredient having a GRAS statement, is not equivalent to FDA preapproval of the finished supplement. For consumer guidance, see the FDA’s FDA 101: Dietary Supplements.
Ask a clinician about personal risks
Discuss a supplement with a healthcare professional if you take medicines, have health concerns, or are preparing for a medical procedure. The FDA advises consumers to talk with a healthcare professional about supplement benefits and risks, including possible interactions with medicines or effects on procedures.
