The available sources do not identify a URLbox extension listing or manifest. In Chrome, a permission to read and change website data describes what an extension may be able to do on sites within its granted access; it does not prove what the extension actually collects or sends.
What “read and change website data” means
Chrome describes site access as an extension’s ability to read and change data on websites. Depending on the permission scope, that capability may let an extension read, request, or modify page data. Google Chrome Web Store Help says access to data on all websites can extend to every page you visit, while access to a specified list is limited to those sites. Google’s permissions guidance gives examples of potentially sensitive pages, including bank accounts and Facebook.
This is a statement about capability, not proof of use. A permission prompt alone does not show that an extension records, transmits, or stores all data it could access. To understand actual practices, check the extension’s data-use disclosures and privacy policy as well as its permissions.
What is known about URLbox specifically
The reviewed sources do not establish a specific URLbox browser-extension listing, its manifest, or its permission set. As a result, it would be inaccurate to claim that a URLbox extension can access all websites, passwords, cookies, browsing history, or any other particular data type without verifying the exact extension.

Urlbox’s privacy policy describes personal and usage data relating to the Urlbox website and service. The page states that it was last updated on 26 May 2026. It does not establish the permissions or data handling of a particular browser extension.
How to check and limit an extension’s site access in Chrome
- Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and inspect the extension’s displayed access to site data.
- Open Manage extensions, select the extension, and review the Details page, including its permissions and allowed sites.
- Where Chrome offers the choice, set access to activate when you select the extension, to the current site, or to all sites. You can also manage specific allowed sites in the Details settings. The available choices depend on the extension’s host permissions. See Chrome’s instructions for installing and managing extensions.
- Check the exact Chrome Web Store listing and the developer’s privacy disclosures for what the extension says it collects, uses, and shares. Chrome Web Store policy says user-data handling must be disclosed even when processing happens locally and data is not sent to external servers. See Chrome for Developers’ user-data policy guidance.
- If you are checking something described as a URLbox extension, verify its identity and listing before treating Urlbox’s general service privacy policy as evidence about the extension.
What the site-access setting does not establish
A site-access choice limits access to sites covered by the extension’s host permissions; it is not a complete description of every form of network behavior. Chrome warns that changes to site access do not affect lower-level network access changed through VPN or proxy settings. Chrome Help explains the scope of these controls.

Screenshot alternative: use an API instead of a browser extension
If the goal is to capture a web page rather than interact with it from a browser, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It provides a separate way to request a screenshot or PDF and does not require granting a Chrome extension site access. Its clean-shot options can accept consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture.
Or skip the browser setup
One GET request returns an image or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo says bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; its response includes page-verdict and billing headers. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
