Unturned servers are LAN-only by default. To publish one on the Internet list, switch it to Internet mode, authenticate it with a GSLT created for app ID 304930, and then provide public reachability through either Fake IP or port forwarding. You do not normally need both. The steps below isolate each cause without relying on an unverified listing-time promise.

What the LAN-versus-Internet symptom means
A server that is visible on the LAN tab is answering on your local network; that does not mean Steam or Unturned can publish it to players on the Internet. The official Unturned 3.x documentation states that LAN servers are not visible from the Internet server list. A home-hosted instance can therefore work perfectly for computers on the same router while remaining absent for everyone else.

Public listing also requires authentication. The Unturned 3 Knowledgebase says all servers must use a valid Game Server Login Token to appear in the server list. Dedicated servers have required GSLT authentication for list display since version 3.21.31.0. A port rule by itself cannot compensate for LAN mode or an invalid token.
Run these checks in order
- Confirm that the instance is configured as an Internet server rather than LAN mode, then restart it.
- Create a GSLT for Unturned app ID
304930and apply it asBrowser.Login_TokeninConfig.jsonor with theGSLTstartup command. - Choose one public-network method: Fake IP or router port forwarding.
- If forwarding, expose the configured game port and the next consecutive query port over both TCP and UDP.
- Allow the server through the operating-system firewall and confirm that your ISP supplies a usable public address and inbound forwarding.
- For multiple instances, give each server a separate two-port pair.
- Only after those checks, use SteamCMD validation to repair a possibly damaged dedicated-server installation.
1. Make sure the server is Internet-enabled
Inspect the launch configuration and server files for the setting that starts the instance in LAN mode. Change that setup to the Internet/public mode described by your Unturned installation, save it, and fully restart the server process. A restart matters because browser registration and network listeners are initialized during startup.

If you intentionally want a private household or local-area game, leave LAN mode enabled; it is not an error in that case. The Internet tab is the wrong place to look for a LAN-only instance. If you changed to Internet mode and the server still appears only under LAN, continue with the token and reachability checks rather than repeatedly reinstalling the game.
2. Create and apply a valid GSLT
A GSLT is the credential that identifies your dedicated server to Steam’s game-server services. It is not a password you invent locally and not an arbitrary random string. Create the token through Steam’s Game Server Account Management using Unturned app ID 304930.

- Stop the dedicated server so its configuration is not being overwritten while you edit it.
- Open the instance’s
Config.json. - Under the
Browsersection, setLogin_Tokento the complete GSLT value. - Save the file, preserve valid JSON syntax, and start the server again.
The relevant structure is conceptually Browser.Login_Token. Keep the token private: anyone who obtains it may be able to associate a server with your Steam account or interfere with its registration. Do not paste it into screenshots, public logs, or support posts.
Pass it at startup instead
If your launch script manages settings, supply the token with the GSLT startup command. Use one method consistently so a script does not overwrite the value in Config.json on the next launch. After restarting, check the server console for authentication errors or a failure to register. A malformed value, an expired or revoked token, the wrong app ID, or a token belonging to a different service will prevent list registration even when the server itself starts.

For installations running version 3.21.31.0 or newer, treat this token as a required listing credential, not an optional enhancement. If you upgraded an older server and it vanished from the Internet list afterward, recheck the token before changing router settings.
3. Choose Fake IP or port forwarding
The official setup guidance presents Fake IP and port forwarding as alternatives for public reachability. Select the method that matches your network and the amount of infrastructure you want to maintain.

Do not configure both simply because the server is not listed. Pick one, restart, and test that path. Running two competing public-address configurations can make diagnosis harder.
4. Forward the complete Unturned port pair
Each Unturned server uses two consecutive ports: the configured Port for game traffic and Port + 1 for server-list queries. The default pair is 27015 and 27016. Forwarding only the first port can leave gameplay traffic reachable while browser queries fail, which makes the server appear absent from the list.

Router rule requirements
- Forward the configured game port and the next consecutive port.
- Create rules for both TCP and UDP, unless your router’s combined protocol option explicitly covers both.
- Direct the rules to the host computer’s private IPv4 address, such as the address assigned by your home router.
- Reserve that private address with a DHCP reservation or static configuration so it does not change after a reboot.
- Apply the router changes and restart the Unturned server if the router requires a new listener session.
For the default setup, the rules therefore target TCP and UDP 27015 and 27016 on the same host. Do not substitute a random pair without also changing the server’s configured Port.
Running more than one server
Never let two instances bind the same port. The Unturned 3 Knowledgebase recommends 27015 for the first server, 27017 for the second, and 27019 for the third. Each value represents the first port of a pair, so the corresponding query ports are 27016, 27018, and 27020. Give every pair its own firewall and router rules and confirm that each instance’s configuration points to the intended pair.

5. Remove firewall and ISP barriers
Operating-system firewall
Allow the dedicated-server executable or its listening ports through the host operating system’s firewall. Permit both TCP and UDP for both members of the pair. If you previously clicked a one-time block prompt, remove that block or create an explicit inbound rule. Test with the firewall enabled after creating the rule; disabling protection permanently is not a reliable fix.
Private address and double NAT
The router must forward to the computer actually running U3DS. If the computer receives a new private IPv4 address, an otherwise correct rule silently points at the wrong device. Two routers in series can also create double NAT: the outer router must pass the ports to the inner router, which then passes them to the server host.

ISP limitations
Some ISPs use carrier-grade NAT, block unsolicited inbound connections, or do not provide customers with a forwardable public IPv4 address. The Unturned hosting knowledgebase explicitly warns that some ISPs make port forwarding impossible. In that situation, changing local rules will not make direct forwarding work. Use Fake IP if it is suitable for your installation, or move the server to a network or managed host that supplies public reachability.

When contacting an ISP, ask whether your connection has a public IPv4 address and whether inbound TCP and UDP forwarding is permitted. A public-looking address shown by a web page can still differ from the address assigned to your router because of carrier-grade NAT.

No authoritative Unturned source establishes a guaranteed listing delay or a current percentage of failed registrations, so do not treat a fixed waiting period as proof that the setup is working. After changing mode, token, or network rules, restart the server and check the Internet tab from a client outside the host’s local network when possible.
If the server remains absent, work backward from the registration requirements: confirm Internet mode, verify that the GSLT was created for app ID 304930, inspect the startup output for token errors, and then confirm the selected Fake IP or the complete forwarded pair. Testing from inside the same LAN can be misleading because local clients may connect through a different path than Internet players.
7. Validate the dedicated-server installation with SteamCMD
File validation is a secondary diagnostic. It cannot create a GSLT, open a router port, or overcome an ISP restriction, but it can repair missing or corrupted U3DS files after an interrupted update or damaged installation.

app_update 1110390 validateThe Unturned 3.x Manual identifies 1110390 as the SteamCMD app ID for installing or updating U3DS. The validate suffix checks the installation and reacquires files that do not match. Stop the server first, run the command in the directory used for that installation, then start the server and recheck its mode, token, and network settings. Validation may reset or replace files, so keep backups of custom configuration and maps.

Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you control over files, mods, updates, restart schedules, and network policy. Its recurring work includes maintaining the GSLT, preserving the host’s private address, updating firewall and router rules, and troubleshooting ISP changes. Hardware, electricity, and bandwidth are your responsibility; there is no single universal cost because those expenses depend on your existing equipment and connection.
A managed host can be practical when your ISP blocks forwarding or you do not want to maintain a router, firewall, and update process. Before paying for one, verify that its current service supports Unturned dedicated servers, supplies the required GSLT workflow, and offers Fake IP or an equivalent public-reachability method. Prices, included resources, player limits, backups, and mod support vary by provider and change over time, so compare those terms directly rather than assuming every host handles registration identically.

Security and reliability practices
- Store the GSLT outside public documentation and rotate it if it is exposed.
- Use a DHCP reservation or static private IPv4 address for every host receiving forwarded traffic.
- Document each server’s first port and its query port so later edits do not create overlaps.
- Back up
Config.json, maps, and mod data before updates or SteamCMD validation. - Keep the operating system, SteamCMD, and U3DS files updated, but recheck the token and port rules after major changes.
- Prefer explicit firewall rules for the server process and both protocols over leaving the entire machine exposed.
When the server should be visible
The required conditions are cumulative: Internet mode, a valid GSLT for app ID 304930, and one working public-reachability path. For forwarding, that path includes both consecutive ports, both protocols, the correct private IPv4 destination, and an ISP that permits inbound traffic. If any one condition is missing, the server can continue running locally while remaining absent from the Internet list. Correct those prerequisites, restart the instance, and then test from outside the host’s LAN.
