To remove a Galaxy Watch from a phone, open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the watch, and tap Unpair or the equivalent option. This removes the saved Bluetooth connection; it does not erase the watch. If you want to wipe the watch or connect it to a different phone, follow the separate reset or transfer steps below.
Choose the right action for your goal
| Your goal | What to do | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Remove the watch from the phone’s paired-device list | Unpair it in the phone’s Bluetooth settings | Clears the phone’s saved Bluetooth pairing; the watch is not reset. Samsung Canada |
| Erase personal data before giving away the watch | Back up what you need, reset the watch, then unpair its Bluetooth connection | Reset returns the watch to default settings and removes personal data. Samsung Canada |
| Use the watch with another phone | Start the watch’s transfer-to-new-phone flow and complete setup in Galaxy Wearable on the new phone | Depending on model and software, reconnection may reset the watch and remove data. Samsung UK |
Unpair the watch from your phone
On a Samsung phone, use the Bluetooth device list. The labels on other Android phones and iPhones differ, but look for the paired watch’s details and an option such as Unpair or Forget.

- Open Settings on the phone.
- On a Samsung phone, tap Connections, then Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is on so the paired-device list appears.
- Find the Galaxy Watch and tap the settings or details icon beside its name.
- Tap Unpair and confirm if prompted. The watch should disappear from the paired-device list. Samsung’s unpairing instructions
If you no longer have the watch but it still appears in the phone’s list, remove the saved pairing from Bluetooth settings. You do not need the watch in hand to clear that phone-side record.

Reset the watch if you also want to erase it
Unpairing only removes the phone’s Bluetooth pairing. To remove personal data from the watch, back it up first if you may want to restore anything, then reset it. Samsung documents these common paths:
