Collect all eight Ex Oblivione documents in a single New Game Plus run to unlock the From Oblivion achievement. They do not appear on a first playthrough: finish the main story, then choose Ex Oblivione mode. Follow this route in order, and check the optional corners before moving on.
Ex Oblivione document locations, in route order
- The Loss of Calvin Rafferty — Apartment 6: Before dropping through the floor, search the kitchen cabinet.
- The Joys of Discomfort — Miskatonic Library Annex: Go upstairs and look beside bookcase 610, near the mattresses.
- The Burden of Knowledge — Devil’s Reef Hotel: Disable the poison gas, then backtrack through the cleared doorway. Continue to the wine room and squeeze through the gap into Linen Storage. The document is on a crate immediately to your right.
- The Pursuit of the Unknown — Akeley Hospital approach: After leaving the boat, follow the woodland route toward the hospital. Search the small side area south of the main path; the document is on a picnic table before you enter the hospital.
- The View from Outside — Akeley Hospital: In the Observation Ward area, enter the adjoining room and check the desk.
- Sixth document — Arkham Fish Market: Use the first Leyden Jar on the starfish-shaped door. Go through to the balcony, drop to the lower level, turn left, and search the far-left crates before continuing. The document’s name is disputed: one checklist calls it “The Mother of Invention,” while another calls it “The Path.” The available route guides do not resolve which name is correct.
- The Beauty of Survival — wrecked ship: Go to the far end of the ship and search the locker area beside a group of four lockers.
- The Son of Cthylla — final Portal Room: Restore power, then search the back corner near the additional pickups, including an E.R.C. Activator Pen. Collect the document before advancing to the final sequence.
Check these detours before moving on
Three pickups are easy to miss if you stay on the main route: the picnic table south of the woodland path, the desk in the room adjoining the Observation Ward, and the far-left crates after the Fish Market balcony drop. At the end, search the Portal Room’s back corner after restoring power and before triggering the final sequence.

If From Oblivion does not unlock
If the achievement fails to register, check that you are playing Ex Oblivione rather than a standard new game, and open and read each purple document after picking it up. Then recheck the three side-area pickups and make sure you collected the Portal Room document before advancing.

The eight-document count, route, and achievement condition are reported by two editorial guides, rather than official developer documentation: Gamepressure’s guide and PowerPyx’s checklist. Both describe the documents as New Game Plus collectibles; their differing names for the sixth item remain unconfirmed.
