“Under-cover removal” means taking off a cover or panel located beneath another part of an assembly. It is not the name of one universal component or repair procedure: the exact part and removal steps depend on the appliance or vehicle and its model.
What does “under cover” refer to?
In a repair or installation document, “under cover” generally identifies a component by its position in a particular assembly. It may describe an HVAC unit cover, a panel on a vehicle’s underside, or interior dashboard trim. The phrase alone does not tell you which part is meant or how to remove it.

How the term is used in different equipment
HVAC indoor-unit cover
In its installation manual for the ASEH14KMCG-B, Fujitsu General uses the heading “Front panel / control cover / under cover removal.” The indexed procedure removes the left and right under-covers, then the center-cover screws and screw covers, before proceeding to the front panel and control cover. Vehicle exterior or underside cover
The 2016 Nissan Note service manual distinguishes a front under-cover from floor under-covers. Its front-cover procedure calls for removing the front bumper fascia, taking out clips and nuts, then sliding the cover forward to release pawls and clear studs. The floor-cover instruction separately describes removing rear-cover nuts and the rear floor cover. These are separate, model-specific procedures—not a general set of steps for other vehicles. Does the phrase tell you how to remove the part?
No. It identifies a location or component within a specific assembly, but does not establish a standard part name, fastener type, access route, or sequence. The examples above use different access steps and fasteners. Do not apply one vehicle’s or appliance’s instructions to another model.

What to check before removing an under-cover
- Identify the equipment and the exact model; for a vehicle, include its model year.
- Confirm which cover the document means, such as a front underside panel, floor panel, HVAC cover, or dashboard trim piece.
- Use the matching service or installation instructions and follow their specified order and fastener details.
Removal can create a safety risk if a panel is not supported or handled as directed. Fujitsu General’s cited manual warns that a front panel falling during removal or installation can cause injury. Follow the instructions for the exact product rather than relying on the phrase alone.
