Choose the BOOM 4 for a larger 360-degree speaker with manufacturer-rated durability and an estimated battery life of up to 15 hours. The MEGABOOM 4 is the better-supported option here if you want more volume and bass. This is a use-case shortlist, not a verified ranking of four speakers: the evidence available does not support naming a fourth winner.
How to choose among Ultimate Ears speakers
Ultimate Ears’ current U.S. lineup includes HYPERBOOM, EPICBOOM, EVERBOOM, MEGABOOM 4, BOOM 4, WONDERBOOM 4 and MINIROLL, according to the official lineup page. The three models below have enough specific information here to make useful, qualified recommendations. They suit different priorities rather than forming a definitive best-to-worst order.

WONDERBOOM 4: the compact outdoor choice
WONDERBOOM 4 is the most straightforward pick when bag space and outdoor use matter more than maximum output. Ultimate Ears describes it as a 360-degree speaker with Outdoor Boost and a podcast EQ mode. The company also says it is IP67 dust- and water-protected, floats, and passed a five-foot (1.5-meter) drop test. In its comparison, RTINGS calls WONDERBOOM 4 more portable and says its default sound profile is more balanced than BOOM 4’s. RTINGS considers it better for most portable uses, an editorial assessment rather than a universal result or a claim that every listener will prefer it.
Know the stereo-pairing limit
Ultimate Ears says WONDERBOOM 4’s two-speaker stereo mode does not connect with WONDERBOOM 1 or 2, BOOM, MEGABOOM or HYPERBOOM. Do not assume that the brand’s multi-speaker features work identically across its product families.

BOOM 4: a louder all-rounder with a qualified battery estimate
BOOM 4 is worth considering if you want a larger cylindrical speaker and a little more potential output than WONDERBOOM 4. RTINGS says BOOM 4 can get somewhat louder; that comparison does not establish that it will sound better for every listener or setting.

Durability and PartyUp
Ultimate Ears describes BOOM 4 as IP67 rated, waterproof, floatable and drop-proof. These terms describe the company’s product claims; they do not mean the speaker cannot be damaged. The same page says PartyUp supports compatible BOOM, MEGABOOM, EVERBOOM, EPICBOOM and HYPERBOOM speakers. PartyUp is a separate compatibility feature from WONDERBOOM’s two-unit stereo pairing, so check the exact models and mode before planning a multi-speaker setup.

MEGABOOM 4 is the strongest-supported choice in this shortlist for listeners who want more volume and bass. Ultimate Ears describes it as a loud 360-degree speaker and says its bass is stronger than the previous generation’s. TechRadar’s July 2025 review likewise presented it as a suitable option for volume, bass and long battery life, while noting that in the reviewer’s listening, some busy rock and alternative mixes could sound muddled. That observation is a listening impression, not a measurement or a result from our testing.

The lineup includes several other models, but the available model-specific comparisons do not establish a fair fourth recommendation among EVERBOOM, EPICBOOM, HYPERBOOM and MINIROLL. Naming one as a winner without comparable evidence would give this shortlist a false precision. If one of those models is on your list, compare its current official specifications and intended size class with your needs before choosing.
