Police in Ghaziabad registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against two men after the father of a 22-year-old nursing student complained about their alleged role in her death. The complaint is an allegation, not a finding of guilt. Reporting dated 1–2 October 2026 said police were investigating; it did not establish a motive or report an arrest or conviction.
What happened in Siddharth Vihar
The student, a first-year nursing student at a college in Greater Noida, died after an incident at a flyover or rail-over-bridge in Siddharth Vihar on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The Times of India reported that the site was near CSHP Public School and that she died in hospital during treatment after police took her there. Its report identifies the college as a private university in Kasna; Hindustan Times describes it more generally as a Greater Noida college.

Why police registered an FIR
According to Hindustan Times, police registered the FIR on 1 October after the student’s father complained. The report quotes Vijay Nagar ACP Ziauddin Ahmad as saying the two men named in the complaint were friendly with the student, often spoke with her by telephone, and that one had spoken with her shortly before her death. Those remarks describe what police told the newspaper; they do not establish that either man caused or encouraged her death.

The father’s account, as reproduced by Hindustan Times from the FIR, is that she left for college at about 10 a.m. Around 11 a.m., one of the men called to say she had come to visit him, then said she had left. The father said the man ended the call when he asked to speak with her. He said he could not reach her and learned about two hours later that she had been injured after jumping from the structure. This is the complainant’s version of events, not an independently confirmed timeline.
What Section 108 means—and what an FIR does not mean
Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerns abetment of suicide. The police case indicates that the complaint was registered under that provision; it does not mean a court has determined that the accused committed the offence. An FIR records information prompting a criminal investigation. Guilt can be determined only through the legal process, and the reports available at the time did not say that the two men had been convicted or arrested.

- The reports do not establish a confirmed reason for the student’s death.
- The Times of India said police had found no suicide note, had taken her phone for investigation, and were awaiting the autopsy report.
- Hindustan Times reported that police teams planned to trace and question the men named in the FIR; it did not report a completed questioning or a later procedural outcome.
Accordingly, details about the phone examination, autopsy, motive, and any subsequent police action should not be treated as settled on the basis of these reports.
