An alert design is not the same thing as an alert service. A pack may contain videos, images, sounds, and overlay files, while Streamlabs or StreamElements processes the event and serves it to your broadcast. OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, Twitch Studio, and other broadcasters then display the result as a widget or browser source.

Streamlabs free Alert Box
Streamlabs Alert Box is a free alert system with free designs and sounds, custom uploads, and dashboard-based testing. A larger library is available through Streamlabs Ultra. It suits beginners already using Streamlabs Desktop or creators who want one integrated workflow. The trade-off is dependence on a Streamlabs account, hosted widget, and its supported import formats.
StreamElements themes and editor
StreamElements provides gallery themes, a custom AlertBox, and its Elements editor. Its current path is Streaming tools → Overlays; create an overlay, select a gallery theme, or use Elements, then add and configure AlertBox. It is especially useful for OBS users who want detailed browser-source customization and event variations (StreamElements setup guide).
Nerd or Die free resources
Nerd or Die publishes free overlays, alerts, widgets, and name-your-price resources. These are downloadable or designer-made assets rather than a universal event service, so follow the product’s Streamlabs, StreamElements, or OBS instructions (free resources).
OWN3D Pro free alerts

Make your own
You can upload your own GIFs, videos, images, and sounds to a supported widget. This costs no design fee but still requires event configuration, audio routing, licensing checks, and testing. Keep original media and a copy of your widget settings so a provider change does not erase your work.

How to install Twitch alerts
Streamlabs Desktop
- Connect Twitch to Streamlabs.
- Open the Streamlabs dashboard and select Alert Box.
- Choose a theme or upload custom media, then configure each event.
- Add the Alert Box widget in Streamlabs Desktop.
- Save and use the dashboard test controls.

OBS Studio with Streamlabs
- Configure Alert Box in the Streamlabs dashboard.
- Copy the widget URL for the correct account and theme.
- In OBS, choose Sources → + → Browser, paste the URL, and set dimensions appropriate for your canvas.
- Enable browser-source audio and route it to the intended mixer track.
- Save, test, and check the source is visible above gameplay.

OBS Studio with StreamElements
- Open StreamElements and select Streaming tools → Overlays.
- Create an overlay, choose a gallery theme, or open Elements.
- Add AlertBox and configure text, media, sound, animation, and variations.

- Add it in OBS as Sources → + → Browser, then set size and audio.
- Use the dashboard test controls for every enabled event before going live.

- Download the package and open the folder for Streamlabs, StreamElements, or OBS.
- Use the supplied quick-import link when available.
- Create a new widget theme or profile if you want to preserve existing alerts.

A .overlay file is not universal: Nerd or Die states that this format is specific to Streamlabs Desktop and Twitch Studio; other software needs the relevant manual, StreamElements, or browser-source method (compatibility guide).

How to choose a design
Compatibility and functionality
- Confirm software, platform, and installation method: browser source, local media, scene collection, or proprietary import.
- Check whether the purchase includes alerts only or a complete package.
- Verify audio, editable text and colors, event coverage, variations, and commercial-use terms.
- Confirm whether one license covers multiple channels or Twitch plus YouTube or Kick simulcasts.
Visual fit
- Preview at 720p and 1080p; keep alerts away from gameplay UI, captions, and subtitles.
- Check contrast on bright and dark scenes and match your webcam frame, panels, transitions, and starting screen.
- Prefer short, readable animations over effects that cover action for several seconds.
Audio and moderation
- Balance volume across event types and test repeated follows for spam.
- Decide whether text-to-speech is necessary; filter or disable abusive usernames and messages.
- Provide a mute or simplified mode for competitive play, sensitive content, or viewers affected by flashing.
- Check that sound effects and music have the required license.
Operational fit
Save widget URLs, screenshots, downloaded media, configuration notes, receipts, and license text. Cloud workflows are convenient but depend on account access, authorization, provider uptime, and unchanged URLs.

No alert appears
- Re-copy the current overlay URL if it was regenerated.
- Confirm the correct Twitch account is connected and the event type is enabled.
- Ensure the browser source is visible, above obstructing sources, and correctly sized.
- Use the dashboard test instead of waiting for a real event.
- For imported packs, verify the import went to the intended account and overlay.
Alert appears without sound
- Check browser-source audio, OBS monitoring, and mixer mute states.
- Confirm the event’s sound file is assigned and not silent.
- Test the stream mix, not only local preview audio.
Duplicate alerts
Remove extra Streamlabs Alert Box, StreamElements AlertBox, Twitch-native, or pack-provided sources. Use one primary alert system per scene unless separate event ownership is intentional.
Wrong size or cropping
Adjust browser-source width and height, source transform, and the widget’s own canvas dimensions. Re-test at the output resolution viewers receive.
Preview works but a live event does not
Recheck platform selection, Twitch authorization, enabled event types, moderation filters, and whether the account generating the event is the connected account.
