Called iPhone Pocket, the November 2025 Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE collaboration is a 3D-knitted, strap-equipped pouch for carrying an iPhone. It borrows the colorful stretch-knit idea associated with iPod Socks, but turns it into a wearable fashion accessory priced at $149.95 or $229.95 in the United States.
What is Apple iPhone Pocket?
iPhone Pocket is a single, elongated knitted holder rather than a pack of small sleeves. Apple says its stretchable, ribbed construction is designed to fit any iPhone and can also carry other small pocketable items. The product was developed with ISSEY MIYAKE and Apple Design Studio and crafted in Japan.
You can carry it in your hand, attach or tie it to a bag, or wear it on your body using its strap. The open knit can leave part of the display visible, so checking the screen may not require completely removing the phone.
The most accurate description is a wearable knitted iPhone pouch or holder. Calling it a conventional case is misleading because Apple presents it as a way to carry and wear an iPhone, not as a certified protective shell.

Those are original U.S. launch prices, not guaranteed current or resale prices. Apple listed different regional prices; in the United Kingdom, for example, the short strap was £139.95 and the long strap £219.95. Apple did not publish a conventional technical table with exact strap lengths or dimensions in the announcement, so those measurements should not be inferred.

Is the iPod Sock actually back?
Only in spirit. The original iPod Sock was a low-cost multipack of knitted sleeves intended mainly to cover iPods. iPhone Pocket is one larger pouch with a strap, a fashion collaboration, and a much higher launch price.

“The iPod Sock is back” is therefore a useful headline shorthand, not a literal product-history claim. Apple launched a new product inspired by the same textile idea.

How does iPhone Pocket work?
- Insert the iPhone into the knitted pocket.
- Carry the pouch by hand, attach it to a bag, or wear it with the strap.
- Use the stretch in the knit to view part of the screen without fully removing the phone.
- Use the remaining space for other small items, within the physical limits of the pouch.
Apple’s statement that it fits “any iPhone” establishes compatibility across iPhone models. It does not establish that every combination of iPhone and accessory will fit. There is no official confirmation for thick protective cases, wallet attachments, battery cases, Pop-style grips, camera lens protectors, or other bulky add-ons. Check the fit with your exact setup before buying, especially from a resale seller.
Is it a protective case?
No—not in the normal phone-case sense. Apple’s announcement emphasizes carrying, wearing, stretch, and visibility; it does not claim drop certification, shock absorption, raised edges, camera protection, or water resistance.

The pouch may keep an iPhone from sharing a pocket with keys, but its open knitted structure leaves the phone more exposed than a rigid or heavily padded case. It may also stretch, snag, pill, collect dirt, or suffer strap wear over time; Apple has not published maximum load, abrasion, washing, water-resistance, or long-term strength specifications in the cited announcement.
If you already use a protective case, you may be able to place the phone and case inside the pocket, but that combination is unverified. Treat iPhone Pocket as a carrying accessory, not a replacement for impact protection.

Who is it practical for?
Reasons to consider it
- You want to wear an iPhone with clothing that has no useful pockets.
- You value ISSEY MIYAKE design, unusual materials, and collectibility.
- You want a holder that can also carry a few small essentials.
- You prefer an accessory that looks distinctive rather than a generic lanyard.
Reasons to skip it
- Your priority is drop, water, or abrasion protection.
- You need a low-cost phone holder or a secure closure.
- You use a thick case, wallet, grip, or camera accessory.
- You need theft-resistant carrying or substantial storage.
- You dislike textile accessories that may stretch or snag.
- You would be paying an inflated resale price solely because the item is scarce.
The long strap is not simply a color upgrade: it is intended to offer more flexible wearable positioning. Exact strap dimensions and comfort under different loads remain unverified without hands-on testing.
Availability in 2026
Apple announced iPhone Pocket on November 11, 2025, with sales beginning November 14, 2025 in the United States and selected markets including France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Sales were through Apple’s online store and selected Apple Store locations.
MacRumors reported a worldwide sellout on November 25, 2025. As of the available information dated August 18, 2026, that does not prove Apple has resumed direct sales. Check Apple directly for live inventory; a marketplace listing may be resale stock rather than a restock.
What to check before buying resale
- Confirm whether the listing is for iPhone Pocket, not an old iPod Sock or an unofficial knitted replica.
- Verify the strap version, color, and whether the listing is for one holder.
- Compare the asking price with the original U.S. prices of $149.95 short strap and $229.95 long strap; any premium is resale pricing.
- Ask for clear photos of the knit, strap attachment, packaging, and proof of purchase.
- Look for stretched fabric, snags, pilling, stains, or missing packaging.
- Confirm that your iPhone and case can fit and be removed comfortably.
- Use a seller with a clear return policy, since official specifications do not cover every case-and-accessory combination.
Do not assume a high price proves authenticity or quality. Scarcity can attract counterfeit listings and descriptions that omit the strap length or condition.

Bottom line: a fashion holder, not a rugged case
iPhone Pocket is a genuine Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE special-edition accessory that revives the spirit of iPod Socks without bringing back the original product. It makes sense for design-focused buyers who want to wear an iPhone and accept luxury-accessory pricing. For protection, weather resistance, bulky cases, or value, a conventional case with a detachable strap is the more practical category.
