Truth Social is attracting substantially less traffic than it did a year ago. Estimates cited by The Washington Post show traffic down more than 30% in the year through September 2026, while Similarweb estimated about 260,000 average daily users in September—well below the platform’s estimated peak of 420,000 in June 2025. The figures indicate a shrinking audience, but they are third-party estimates rather than an audited company user count.
How much has Truth Social traffic fallen?
Several independent Similarweb-based snapshots point to a sustained decline, although they measure different things. Web visits count sessions across desktop and mobile websites; daily active-user estimates measure people using mobile apps on an average day. Neither figure is the same as registered accounts.

| Measure | Earlier period | Later period | Reported change | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Average daily users | 420,000 in June 2025 | About 260,000 in September 2026 | Down about 38% from the estimated peak | Similarweb estimate reported by The Washington Post on Oct. 14, 2026; not an audited company count |
| Monthly visits | 15.4 million in August 2025 | 13.8 million in August 2026 | Down 10% year over year | TheRighting analysis of Similarweb mobile and desktop estimates |
| Monthly visits | 25.2 million in February 2025 | 18.4 million in February 2026 | Down 27% year over year | TheRighting report using Similarweb estimates |
| Mobile daily active users | 436,000 in July 2025 | 261,000 in July 2026 | Down about 40% | Similarweb estimates cited by the Daily Beast and Financial Times |
The Washington Post described a decline of more than 30% for the year ending September 2026. The monthly series shows why the exact percentage depends on the metric and comparison month: traffic has not fallen in a straight line, but the year-over-year direction has generally weakened.
Why monthly traffic can spike even during a long decline
Truth Social remains highly sensitive to major political and geopolitical news. TheRighting recorded 18.4 million visits in February 2026, compared with 25.2 million in February 2025, yet a single event still produced a dramatic short-term surge. Visits rose from 279,600 on Feb. 27 to 682,400 on Feb. 28, a one-day increase of 143%.

TheRighting also recorded the last year-over-year monthly increase in April 2026, when visits reached 48.8 million, up 45% from April 2025. That gain did not reverse the broader pattern: August brought 13.8 million visits, below both the prior August and the much higher April total.
What the pattern means
- A major war, election development or presidential statement can bring a large influx of visitors.
- Event-driven visitors may not become regular users, so a spike in visits does not necessarily indicate lasting growth.
- Comparisons are meaningful only when the metric, platform coverage, month and geography match.
Possible reasons for the weakening audience
Howard Polskin of TheRighting attributed the weaker audience to factors including Donald Trump’s diminished popularity, his erratic performance as president and an increase in dark AI-generated posts. Those are informed interpretations, not proven causal findings. The available traffic estimates show what happened, but they do not isolate the effect of any individual content decision, policy or post.
Rank #2
Truth Social’s dependence on a single political personality also makes demand unusually sensitive to the news cycle and to changes in that figure’s popularity. That dependence can create exceptional bursts of attention while making it harder to maintain routine daily use between major events.

The audience trend arrives as Trump Media & Technology Group faces severe financial pressure. The Associated Press reported a $238 million loss in the second quarter of 2026 against $1.7 million in revenue.
Chief executive Kevin McGurn said the company would largely abandon online betting and cryptocurrency expansion and refocus on social media. He described the move as a deliberate pivot: “We made the disciplined choice to pivot in order to invest more time and resources in our most important initiatives. We will say no to things or change course as warranted.”
Truth API as an alternative revenue stream
Rather than relying only on advertising or a growing consumer audience, Trump Media is selling Truth API access to high-frequency trading firms and other customers. The Associated Press reported pricing of $60,000 to $100,000 per month and 10 customers.
Rank #4
| API detail | Reported figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $60,000–$100,000 per customer | Reported commercial pricing, not a publicly audited average |
| Customers | 10 | Customer count reported by the Associated Press in 2026 |
| Possible annual run rate | $7 million–$12 million | Illustrative calculation if 10 customers and the reported prices continue for a full year |
That possible run rate would be meaningful beside $1.7 million in quarterly revenue, but it does not by itself solve the company’s $238 million quarterly loss. It also depends on retaining those customers and maintaining the quoted pricing.

Can Truth Social become sustainable?
A sustainable business would need either a larger and more consistently active audience, stronger monetization of existing users, or substantial revenue from products outside the social network. The API strategy offers a way to monetize data and infrastructure without waiting for consumer traffic to recover, while the decision to retreat from betting and crypto reduces the number of expansion bets the company is pursuing.
Best Value
The central challenge is scale. Third-party estimates place September 2026 average daily users at about 260,000, and July 2026 mobile daily users at 261,000. A platform at that level can still matter politically, but it has a smaller recurring audience from which to generate advertising, subscriptions or commerce revenue. Short-lived event surges cannot substitute for retention unless many of those visitors return regularly.
How to read the numbers without overstating them
- Do not call the estimates an official user count. Similarweb models traffic and app activity; Trump Media has not supplied an audited September 2026 cross-platform table in the available reporting.
- Keep metrics separate. A web-visit total, a mobile daily-active-user estimate and a registered-account figure answer different questions.
- Match the period and geography. Comparing July mobile activity with August web visits, or mixing regional and worldwide figures, can create a false trend.
- Separate correlation from cause. The data establish declining traffic and event volatility, not that a particular post format, AI-generated content or presidential action caused the decline.
What to watch next
The most informative indicators will be whether year-over-year monthly visits stop falling outside major news events, whether estimated daily users stabilize above the July–September 2026 range, and whether API customers and pricing produce recurring revenue. If traffic continues to contract while losses remain large, Truth Social’s future will depend increasingly on those business-to-business products rather than on consumer-network growth.
