What Trump reportedly said
Newsweek, in an article reproduced by Headtopics Singapore on October 3, 2026, quoted Trump as saying the “Democrat Social Agenda” would cost Americans trillions and that America would be “completely destroyed” and made a “Third World Country.” The report attributed the wording to a Truth Social post. The original post was not independently retrieved, so the quotation here is what Newsweek reported, not a separate verification against Trump’s account.
The headline’s reference to “Democrats” is broader than the policy analysis described in the article. Newsweek said the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) assessed selected proposals associated with the Democratic Socialists of America. The DSA is a political and activist organization; it is not the Democratic Party. The reported estimate should not be read as a calculation of the cost of the Democratic Party’s platform.
What the reported figures mean
According to Newsweek’s account, the CEA estimated that adopting the featured DSA proposals would cost taxpayers $49 trillion over ten years, or more than $350,000 per household. The article also attributed other forecasts to administration officials: prices rising by as much as 160 percent across the decade and workers’ paychecks being nearly 30 percent smaller.

- The price and paycheck numbers are administration forecasts. They should not be treated as results that have already occurred.
