Faction mechanics in Total War: Warhammer III change what you pursue and how you make decisions; they sit on top of a shared campaign of expansion, battles, and development. Your Legendary Lord determines which faction-specific objectives and systems matter. In Immortal Empires, Creative Assembly says victory conditions are designed to reflect each Lord’s lore and, where possible, use that faction’s or culture’s unique mechanics. What are the goals for each faction in Total War: Warhammer III?
The exact goals depend on your selected Legendary Lord and campaign mode. A useful starting point is the general territorial framework in the official game manual: capture regions and hold provinces. Treat that as a baseline, not a universal checklist of every current victory requirement. The manual predates later Immortal Empires revisions, so it should not be used as a current Lord-by-Lord objective guide.

In Immortal Empires, goals are intended to be more tailored. Creative Assembly describes its victory-condition revisions as aiming for loreful objectives that suit each Legendary Lord or faction. Where possible, those objectives also draw on the faction’s or culture’s unique mechanics. That design aim explains why two campaigns need not ask you to pursue the same kind of victory, but it does not establish the current objective list for every Lord.
Victory goals and quests are not the same thing
The official manual distinguishes campaign victory from Lord-specific quests. It says each Legendary Lord has quests tailored to their faction, and describes those quests as optional while noting that successful completion can provide powerful rewards. Do not assume that every quest is a required step toward victory, or that completing optional quests alone satisfies the campaign’s victory conditions. Keep the campaign mode in view
Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires are different campaign contexts; do not carry an objective list or assumption from one into the other. SEGA describes Immortal Empires as a grand-scale campaign combining the landmasses, Legendary Lords, and units from across the Total War: WARHAMMER series. Its support page dates the mode’s release to August 23, 2022. The mode’s scale does not make every faction’s aims interchangeable: use the objectives presented for the Lord and mode you actually selected.
What resources does each faction use?
There is no universal faction currency. Factions have different campaign features, and a mechanic that looks like a resource in one faction may not work like a spendable currency in another. The official manual confirms that races have distinct campaign features, while SEGA’s launch-era FAQ points readers toward faction-mechanics overviews. Neither source supplies a complete, current table of every faction’s resource, costs, and unlocks.
For a specific campaign, rely on the current in-game tooltips and current official faction material for the exact name, purpose, cost, and conditions of a mechanic. Do not infer the details from another faction or a different Total War game. In particular, avoid treating every meter, stance, special rule, or objective system as a currency: only call something a spendable resource when the game’s current description supports that interpretation.

How to read a faction mechanic before spending or planning around it
- Identify the mechanic in the selected faction’s current campaign interface. Start with the text and tooltip the game displays for that Lord, rather than a remembered rule from another campaign.
- Find out what changes when you use it. Check whether the mechanic is spent, accumulated, maintained, activated, or tied to a condition. The label alone is not enough to establish how it works.
- Check its costs and limits in context. Read the relevant in-game description before committing resources or shaping a turn around an assumed price, threshold, duration, or unlock.
- Connect it to an objective only when the objective says so. Creative Assembly’s Immortal Empires design goal is to incorporate distinctive faction or culture mechanics where possible; that does not mean every mechanic is required for victory.
- Recheck after a change of Lord, mode, or game update. The faction and campaign context matter, and exact mechanics or objectives can vary. Use the information shown for the campaign you are playing.
This approach is less convenient than a universal resource chart, but it avoids a more consequential mistake: acting on a cost, benefit, or requirement that belongs to a different faction or an older version of the game.
How does campaign progression work?
Think of progression as a set of connected decisions rather than a fixed sequence scripted identically for every faction. You pursue the objectives available to your Lord, develop and expand your position, fight battles, and use the faction’s own campaign features to support your plans. The official manual establishes the turn-based planning and territory-and-quest framework; Creative Assembly’s Immortal Empires update explains why some victory goals may also draw on faction-specific mechanics.
1. Read the campaign’s goals before choosing a direction
Begin with the current victory conditions and any active quests displayed in your campaign. Separate what is required to win from optional objectives that may offer rewards. This distinction helps you avoid spending turns on a quest because it appears prominent, or overlooking a territorial requirement because your faction has a distinctive side system.

2. Understand the position your campaign gives you
Before committing to expansion, examine your immediate territory and the objectives you have been given. A territorial goal makes control and retention relevant; a Lord-specific objective may call for a different priority. The sources do not support one universal opening route, target list, or order of expansion, so make the choice from the map and current campaign objectives rather than assuming another Lord’s strategy transfers directly.
3. Develop your territory and armies with the objective in mind
Expansion, development, and battles are parts of the shared campaign structure, but their relative importance depends on your situation and faction mechanics. Ask what a proposed action advances: does it help you meet a stated goal, secure territory you need to hold, improve your capacity to continue the campaign, or make effective use of a current faction feature? If it does none of those, reconsider its priority. The exact buildings, recruitment options, costs, and tactical choices are faction-specific and should be checked in the game.
4. Use special mechanics as tools, not as a substitute for the objective list
A unique mechanic can shape how a faction approaches its campaign, and Immortal Empires objectives may incorporate such mechanics where possible. Still, the presence of a special system does not prove that it is a victory condition or that it should dominate every turn. Read what the mechanic enables, then compare that benefit with the campaign’s listed requirements and the immediate situation.

5. Reassess as objectives and circumstances change
Campaign progression is a series of turn-based decisions, not a guaranteed sequence of stages. Revisit your objectives as the campaign develops. If you have satisfied an optional quest, distinguish its reward from the remaining victory requirements. If a faction feature changes what you can do, use its current description to decide whether it helps with a goal, rather than assuming it replaces territorial or other objectives.
What should I do first in a new campaign?
Use this short opening checklist before settling into a long-term plan. It is a decision framework, not a promise that every faction has the same opening moves.
- Confirm the mode and Lord. Make sure you are reading the objectives for the campaign you actually started, not a different mode or Legendary Lord.
- Read the victory conditions. Identify the current required goals, including any territorial requirements, before treating quests or special mechanics as mandatory.
- Separate optional quests from required objectives. The official manual characterizes Lord-specific quests as optional and potentially rewarding; use the current in-game objectives to establish what your campaign requires.
- Inspect the faction’s mechanics and tooltips. Record what the system does, what it costs or requires, and whether it supports an objective. Do not transfer names, costs, or rules from another faction.
- Review your starting position and immediate options. Decide how development, armies, battles, and expansion can serve your actual objectives. There is no evidence-based universal target or turn-by-turn opening that applies to every Lord.
- Make a first-turn plan, then verify it against the interface. Before taking an action that depends on a mechanic, cost, or condition, confirm the current description in the game.
How should you compare factions?
Choose a faction by the campaign experience you want, not by an unsupported ranking of which one is easiest or strongest. The reviewed official materials do not establish a complete, comparable set of current mechanics and requirements for every Lord, so a definitive faction-by-faction ranking would overstate what is known. Instead, compare the information visible for the specific choices you are considering.

- Objective type: What goals does the selected campaign currently show, and how much do they direct your expansion or other decisions?
- Mechanic and purpose: What special system does the faction use, and what does the current tooltip say it enables?
- Starting position: What immediate strategic constraints or opportunities does the campaign map present?
- Army and battles: What roster and battle approach does the game offer for that faction? Confirm details in current game material rather than inferring them from campaign mechanics alone.
- Early and later decisions: Does the mechanic affect the choices you face now, and how does it relate to the objectives you are pursuing?
These axes help you make an informed choice without pretending that every detail has been verified in a universal comparison. If you want exact resource names, costs, unit options, or victory requirements, verify those for the current Lord and game version before selecting or planning around them.
What changed in the 2026 content announcement?
Warhammer Community’s announcement dated August 13, 2026 said that Lords of the End Times content was planned to arrive on September 24, 2026. It described four Legendary Lords, new units, gameplay updates, and revised victory conditions for many Lords. The announcement also said buyers of an individual Lords of the End Times DLC character or the full bundle would receive Immortal Empires access without needing an earlier Total War: WARHAMMER game.
That is the announced release and access policy, not a guarantee of current availability or unchanged store terms. Because purchase conditions can change, check the current official store and platform listing before buying or relying on a particular ownership requirement. The announcement supports the broader point that victory conditions and access arrangements can change; it does not provide a complete current objective or resource guide for every faction.

What is the safest way to get faction-specific details?
Use the campaign’s current interface for the Lord, mode, and version you are playing, then consult current official faction material when you need more explanation. The official manual provides a general foundation for territorial victory, turn-based planning, and optional Lord-specific quests. SEGA’s FAQ points toward faction-mechanics overviews, but the reviewed materials do not establish a complete up-to-date inventory of every faction system and its costs.
That distinction matters if you are following an older guide: it may explain a faction feature well while no longer matching a revised objective, or describe a mechanic from a different campaign context. Confirm any consequential detail—especially an exact objective, cost, unlock, or ownership term—against current in-game or official information before acting on it.
